In comparison to the silence of the previous deck, this one is a cacophony of screams and howls, roars and wails. Rows and rows of cages and racks line the walls, with hundreds of creatures from all worlds chained and restrained in place, all struggling to free themselves. The Coup ~ninth descent~
This deck is quiet. Very quiet. Too quiet.
Along the walls are rows and rows of horse-hands, all standing to attention. Their equine heads stare straight forward, dark, blank eyes unseeing. Their all-too-human hands hang at their sides.
They do not move as the elevators reveal the passengers. -
The Coup ~eighth descent~
As the passengers come upon this deck, they should find it familiar; after all, it is a residential deck much like the ones they inhabit. However, it is bleak and undecorated, cold and unwelcoming. Bare light bulbs -- many of which have burned out -- flicker overhead ( Read more... ) -
The Coup ~seventh descent~
The next seven decks are identical, lined with rows and rows of cages filled with gun and sword racks, padded boxes, and ammunition crates. Unfortunately, they are all empty.
One deck below the weapons lockers is lined with beautifully carved marble statues of men and women, historic figures, creatures from mythology and anthropomorphic animals. -
The Coup ~sixth descent~
The elevator doors creak open to an entirely unfamiliar deck, both to the new explorers and those present for the last mutiny. The smell is chokingly foul, the offensive stench of formaldehyde, blood and death hanging in the air. The temperature is noticably colder than anywhere else on the ship ( Read more... ) -
The Coup ~fifth descent~
After the blinding gaudiness of the wigs, this deck appears depressingly normal and grey. Much like the first deck they encountered, this one follows an industrial theme, though it is kept sparklingly clean, and the harsh scent of disinfectant makes it smell disturbingly like a hospital emergency room ( Read more... ) -
The Coup ~fourth descent~
The next deck is brilliantly colored, and stacked with wigs of all styles, materials, colors and designs. They lay haphazardly on the floor, towering up at least six feet into the air, hanging from doorknobs and tangling around one another.
A well-trodden path leads through the deck between the two sets of elevators. -
The Coup ~third descent~
This deck is industrial. Industrial piping runs overhead and footsteps echo as the passengers move forward. Doors line the corridor walls, and entering the chambers reveals racks and racks of metal jars in orderly rows ( Read more... ) -
