One of the nicest things about my new computer, apart from its speed, is that every day when I turn it on I get a lovely new photograph. I have to say that June has rather passed me by so I'm a bit surprised that we are now at the end of it. The weather has veered between lovely and atrocious, from hot to the heating coming on last week and we've had several bursts of completely torrential rain. I can finally eat properly again thanks to a very kind doctor at our local hospital who managed to fit in an appointment for me and gave me some antibiotics. I felt very guilty about going so was rather glad to get the antibiotics, which proved to me that I was not, as my mother would have told me, making a fuss about nothing. I won't bore you with my mouth woes as the short version is it's getting better but rather more slowly than I had anticipated! It doesn't really hurt any longer, apart from when I eat, so my stick blender and my soup maker are getting a lot of use. At least it's good for the diet!

In another go at our eternal decluttering we have just sorted through our entire recipe collection torn out of magazines, newspapers and scribbled down on scraps of paper. May has finally decided to treat us to some beautiful weather just as the month is about to end. We have even managed to get our tomato plants out into the garden for them to be sat on by foxes and eaten by slugs, but at least I am no longer surrounded by tomato plants indoors. J went for his second jab today, which is a huge relief. For his first jab I went with him to show him where to go but this time I was left in the house on my own.
