I discovered his wonderful music last summer: for me Mahler started wiht 5th symphony. It was in a concert hall, the conductor had to be Vladimir Ashkenazy, but he's got sick, and the other young conductor (Andrey Boreiko-I first heard this name) was on the stage with the European Union orchestra. I've never heard something most amazing before! Good day. I need yor advice. I need to get the work of the famous philosopher Theodor Adorno, dedicated to the Mahler's oeuvre. I have found the book on the Amazon.com, but they require payment by credit cards, and it's not my case. are there some other ways to get the book?

Well I worked late so I'm just getting home but I figured I would use it as an opportunity to wish our boy Gustav a happy 146th birthday. I'm excited because for once I can EXPECT a Mahler symphony on the local classical station without fear of being let down. Anyone doing any Mahler-related celebrating?

I am playing Mahler 1 next week here in Aspen (so excited!), and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good online source for german translations of the german notes in the score, google hasn't come through for me this time :(

I don't have a whole lot of money, but I've been thinking of treating myself. We have a slew of Mahler symphonies on our CD shelf, but I've been seriously considering getting a boxed set. I have a full-time job, but my wife and I play in a I guess you could call community orchestra in eastern Oregon. The city is famous for a rodeo, if (and I suppose this is the case) nothing else.
