The grocery store by our place just got in some duck eggs--DUCK*! I thought that was seriously excellent and now I'm munching a hard-boiled one. The yolk is higher in fat and the white higher in protein than chicken eggs, so that affects the texture....super creamy yolk, bit more rubbery white. Taste is basically egg taste. It still smells of the big Sunny Jim fire on Airport Way here--that acrid nastiness that distinguishes a structure fire from woodsmoke. Blech. Trying to ignore it and failing. It'll probably be around until the next decent rain.

Thinking about messing with my hair again. Not cutting it; it's still growing and I want to see how long it can possibly get. Probably some bizarre Manic Panic color experiment. Oh wow....hot on the heels of a nikujaga experiment last week, I made up some sesame noodles tonight and some kabocha in dashi with peas. SO GOOD. Holy crap, it's raining. I had no idea how much I missed it but I so did: I was a bit tense about Seventh stuff but now I am all relaxed and smiley and O HAY IT'S WET OUTSIDE, LIFE IS NICE. One measley little month without appreciable precipitation and I get all wistful. I am clearly unfit to live anywhere else in the country.

I won an assortment of stormtroopers from the 501st Legion at ComicCon (thanks, troopers!) and they've kind of taken over the place. I know everybody does this with action figures but how can you not? They are ACTION figures! They crave ACTION! And I, sentimental fool that I am, must provide.*
