On Monday, the whole Myungsoo confessing to Sungyeol situation had died out quite a bit. The school was now adjusting to Myungsoo’s odd behaviour. He would sit and stand in corners, quiet, staring into deep space. Rather than sleeping in class like he usually would, he stared hard at his desk. There were always clouds of dark aura around him and it scared the shit out of everyone nearby. At recess he disappeared inconspicuously, floating by everyone in silence. It confused Woohyun a hell of a lot.

Sungyeol and Sungjong were sitting together in the cafeteria at recess. Woohyun sat with them later to discuss Myungsoo and how weird he was acting. He mentioned that this was the reason why he refused to fall in love with anyone. After a few moments of arguing, the three boys felt a strange presence at another table. They all craned their necks and saw Myungsoo sitting alone at another table, his eyes drilling into the back of Sungyeol’s head.

‘What is he doing?’ Woohyun mumbled, somewhat captivated by the way Myungsoo didn’t blink.

‘I don’t know,’ Sungyeol sneered, ‘He’s been staring at me like that ever since the assembly.’

Woohyun shook his head, muttering, ‘Lee Sungyeol, you broke him.’

‘I thought you liked him,’ Sungjong added.

Sungyeol pouted and mumbled, ‘I do, but he’s a jerk and I hate him.’

Woohyun rolled his eyes. ‘Come on, even I forgave him.’

‘You never did the nasty with him and got ignored afterwards though,’ Sungyeol retorted, glaring.

‘True, but I was willing to break his skull,’ Woohyun spat scornfully, ‘I would’ve make him disappear off the records if it wasn’t for you stopping me.’ Myungsoo didn’t have to exist and ruin Sungyeol’s life, but no, Sungyeol didn’t want Myungsoo to get hurt. In Woohyun’s opinion, Sungyeol brought this upon himself. He made the choice to leave Myungsoo be. Woohyun had no problem in disposing him.

When Woohyun looked towards Myungsoo again, he was gone. If that wasn’t creepy, Woohyun didn’t know what was.

‘So where’s Fuckface?’ he asked, ignoring Sungyeol and Myungsoo’s strange predicament for a while.

Sungyeol complained, ‘It’s Bangface!’

‘Fuckface sounds better!’

‘Yeah, but Bangface is PG.’ There was a scrunch of his nose and a sneer before Woohyun brushed him off and looked over at Sungjong, who was shaking his head in disapproval at their immaturity.

‘He’s somewhere,’ Sungjong sighed, uninterested.

‘You two seem so chill, unlike Howon and Dongwoo,’ Woohyun commented.

Sungjong chipped in, ‘They’re cute.’

‘They make me want to puke,’ Sungyeol scowled, not at all agreeing.

-

‘Hey,’ Sungjong called, spotting Yongguk making his way to his locker. ‘So what have you been doing today?’

‘Showing a new kid around,’ Yongguk answered simply.

‘Really? What’s his name?’

Yongguk exclaimed with a small smile, ‘Minsoo. And you know what? He’s a Bang as well.’

Bang Minsoo. The name repeated in Sungjong’s head a million times a minute until he regained his voice. When Yongguk looked at him strangely, he stammered in nervousness, ‘O - Oh really…?’

‘What’s wrong?’ Yongguk asked, suddenly concerned over him.

Sungjong shook his head in denial, forcing a happy grin as he began to step backwards. ‘I’m just going to… talk to Sunggyu-hyung for a bit,’ he stuttered through gritted teeth. Before Yongguk could say anything about his suspicious behaviour, Sungjong sprinted down the hall in a flash. Yongguk never expected his skinny legs to be able to move so fast, so he stood there with his mouth agape, wondering what the fuck was going on.

-

Sungjong ran all the way to the third floor, where the music room was. He saw Sunggyu sitting alone in the middle of the room, staring off into space. He didn’t have time to ask questions about how mysterious he was acting, so he shouted, ‘Sunggyu-hyung!’

The said boy lifted his head to look over at Sungjong who was approaching, raising an eyebrow at him. ‘Yes?’

‘Minsoo is here,’ Sungjong mumbled dejectedly, collapsing onto one of the metal chairs from exhaustion.

Sunggyu’s lip quirked a little. ‘I’m sorry?’

‘Minsoo transferred to this school!’ Sungjong howled, kicking his feet around in dismay.

‘Your ex-boyfriend transferred to this school?’ Sunggyu said in astonishment. He then turned back around to sit on his chair properly, commenting in amusement, ‘That’s exceptionally hilarious.’

‘Hyung!’ Sungjong exclaimed in annoyance, jumping over to take a seat besides the older boy. He whined, ‘What do I do about Yongguk?’

‘Nothing. What would you have to do?’ Sunggyu chuckled fondly, ‘You really like Bangs, I’ve just noticed.’

Sungjong pouted. ‘What if he’s the jealous type?’

‘Then he’ll be jealous,’ Sunggyu said matter-of-factly, holding back a laugh but obviously not trying very hard.

Sungjong wanted to throw something at his face. ‘Why is this so funny to you?’ he complained.

‘I can’t help it that your exaggerating is amusing me,’ Sunggyu chuckled before assuring, ‘I’m sure Yongguk won’t provoke your ex in any way.’

Hearing that made Sungjong calm down a bit, relaxing in his chair. After a moment, he remembered what happened the last time they saw his ex-boyfriend and he almost pissed himself. He then sat up completely straight, his eyes widening at an empty spot in front of him as he muttered rather robotically, ‘What will happen when Myungsoo…?’

Sunggyu shook his head. ‘Myungsoo’s being awfully quiet. I don’t think he’ll attempt anything this time.’

‘I hope so,’ Sungjong mentioned, shivering as he recalled what happened, ‘Last time… I can’t forget the look on his face.’

A thought popped into Sunggyu’s head that made him slightly nervous. ‘You shouldn’t let Sungyeol find out that you dated him,’ he warned seriously.

‘Why?’

‘You have not seen what that being is capable of,’ Sunggyu stated unclearly, since he did not know what that unpredictable human would do if he found out. ‘He’ll traumatise with an adorable smile, I assure you.’

-

‘Another new kid?’ Woohyun scoffed, spotting someone slowly making their way around with a map by the lockers.

Myungsoo peeked over and looked away again in disinterest. He wasn’t really in the mood to check out anyone, so he placed his books in his lockers and didn’t bother to give the guy a second glance. ‘Yeah.’

Woohyun pressed his lips into a thin line. ‘You know, the old Myungsoo would say something like Damn, he’s a top but try to make out with him anyway,’ Woohyun mentioned with a sigh.

Myungsoo snapped, ‘So?’

‘Just saying.’

Myungsoo peered over to the guy again, narrowing his eyes at his face. ‘He looks oddly familiar,’ Myungsoo remarked.

Woohyun snorted in disbelief, ‘Why? You’ve hit that before?’

‘I don’t think I have…’ Myungsoo murmured. Luckily for Sungjong, Myungsoo was never good with faces and didn’t remember Minsoo’s face… But sadly, Myungsoo couldn’t forget that face. Not at all. Myungsoo’s eyes widened as he declared, ‘I know who that is!’

‘Who?’ Woohyun muttered.

‘This is going to be hilarious,’ Myungsoo laughed rather evilly.

Woohyun asked dumbly, ‘He’s a comedian?’

Twiddling his fingers together, Myungsoo smirked as he said lowly, ‘He’s Sungjong’s ex.’

And so Woohyun began panicking, whispering loudly, ‘Oh shit! Hide him!’ He was about to leap forward and grab Minsoo, but Myungsoo grabbed his arm in confusion.

‘Why?’

‘This isn’t good,’ Woohyun rambled, ‘When Yongguk finds out…’

Myungsoo crinkled his brow. ‘What? What will happen?’

Suddenly, Woohyun’s worried expression transitioned into a sinful one - Yongguk had appeared and was talking to the new kid like they were friends. ‘Grab the popcorn,’ he said, making Myungsoo laugh evilly.

-

To be quite honest, Myungsoo was dreading last period. Psychology. Psychology with Lee Sungyeol. He’d skipped literature that second period for the very same reason, but if he skipped this time, Sunggyu was sure to find out and rip his tongue out with chopsticks. He had no choice but to quietly attend class and hopefully not have to work with or even look at Sungyeol at all. Luckily, he was able to walk past Sungyeol, who was seated in the third row, and take his seat in the back with minimal eye contact. However, when they walked out of class, there was an awkward moment as the two stood at the open door and waited for each other to leave.

As Myungsoo stepped through, Sungyeol stepped through, and so they awkwardly squeezed through the door frame together.

‘Sorry,’ Myungsoo said immediately after.

Sungyeol shook his head and muttered, ‘It’s fine,’ before moving in the opposite direction from where Myungsoo was heading.

-

The next morning, Myungsoo saw Sungyeol and Woohyun hugging near the lockers to keep warm and he just about lost all rationality he had in possession, which, thanks to Sunggyu sending him to the bleachers and the assembly, wasn’t very plentiful. He didn’t lose it at Woohyun - No, he knew what kind of strange friendship Woohyun and the skyscraper had - but he lost it at everyone else. So that morning, in physical education, he took out all is frustrations in a game of dodge ball. Now, the game was only meant to be a simulation as the class was practicing their coaching skills, but Myungsoo looked as though it was the Hunger Games and his life depended on it. Bruises, groaning and limping were evident at the end of the lesson, with Myungsoo feeling a lot more relaxed.

Next period was psychology and while walking there, Myungsoo had the weirdest daydream about Sungyeol jumping on him after seeing Myungsoo all hot and sweaty.

Myungsoo almost banned himself from daydreaming after he realised he was a little uncomfortable down there because of the images that popped into his head - not exactly the best condition to go into a classroom with his crush right in front of him. But nonetheless, Myungsoo coped by putting on a I am so tired from exercising act to hide any weird sounds that may have come out of his mouth as he walked past Sungyeol and took his seat.

The whole fifty minutes of class consisted of Myungsoo staring at the back of Sungyeol’s head - his side profile, occasionally. Luckily, Sungyeol didn’t noticed and Myungsoo got away with longingly staring at Sungyeol without interruption.

When class ended, Myungsoo let Sungyeol out first this time. No smile, no words, just a gentle wave of his hand in the direction of the door and his head hung low as he gazed at the floor.

According to his experience of heartbroken syndrome through the past few days, Myungsoo could conclude that Sungyeol obviously meant the world to him and he felt a little sick that he hadn’t talked to him or heard him laugh in so long. Myungsoo was sick of being sick, so he sought out advice from the smartest people he knew.

First on the list was obviously his brother, Sunggyu, the student body president and top ranked student of Paran.

That recess, he found Sunggyu in the music room and instantly cried in a horribly whiney tone that made Sunggyu very riled up inside, ‘Gyu, I can’t take it anymore. How do I make Sungyeol forgive me?’

‘I don’t know. I’ve never been in a relationship before,’ Sunggyu mumbled at the weird question.

Myungsoo went blank as he realised Sunggyu knew absolutely nothing. ‘Oh yeah…’

After his first failed attempt, Myungsoo decided to change his tactic - seek advice from those who have dated before. He instantly thought of Sungjong and his Chihuahua, and so he found Sungjong at his locker.

‘Jong, how do I get Sungyeol to forgive me?’ he asked after catching his arm and stealing his candy away - which is an example as to why Sungjong disliked Myungsoo so much as a human being.

Sungjong scoffed, ‘Ask him to forgive you.’

He then tickled the candy away from Myungsoo and left Myungsoo empty-handed and empty-headed. So Myungsoo sought out Dongwoo, who was in a successful and active relationship that actually seemed happy and active - Sungjong and Yongguk were more relaxed than anything - putting aside that Dongwoo was dating Howon and that was the weirdest thing he could ever see with his own eyes.

‘Woo, how do I get Sungyeol to forgive me?’

Dongwoo thought for a moment, humming, before clicking his fingers and putting forth his simple idea, ‘Sungyeol likes cake. Bake him a cake!’

If cooking was involved, Myungsoo would walk away. And so he walked away.

Fortunately, if Dongwoo was there, Howon was nearby. So he found Howon making his way to the gymnasium, where he just found Dongwoo. He stood in front of Howon to stop him and asked as though it was a philosophy question, ‘How do I make Sungyeol forgive me?’

Howon blinked at him a few times, before passing him and walking into the distance. Myungsoo’s eye began twitching. He should’ve known Howon would be of no help.

After feeling defeated in every way imaginable (He was finally feeling the effects of vigorous dodge ball), he went to the oval and rest his head in Woohyun’s lap. He sighed in depression, only making him look more pitiful to the older student, ‘Hyun, I can’t take waiting anymore. No one in this damn school knows how to give relationship advice.’

Woohyun furrowed his brow and then snapped stubbornly, ‘Fine then. I was going help you, but now I know I’m useless.’

Myungsoo immediately shot up with round eyes and demanded, ‘Tell me.’

Woohyun smirked, suddenly having power over the brat. ‘Kiss the shin,’ he said simply, pointing towards his right leg.

Myungsoo looked at the clothed leg and then slowly back at Woohyun’s stupid face, shooting him the what the fuck are you smoking glare.

‘Kiss it,’ Woohyun barked, pushing Myungsoo’s head down.

Myungsoo struggled a little as he asked, ‘Why?’

‘For good luck.’

That was all he really needed, so no matter how strange it was, Myungsoo left a peck on Woohyun’s ripped-trouser-covered shin before looking up at him expectantly.

Woohyun chuckled mockingly, ‘Nah, I’m kidding. It’s so I know you’re inferior to me, peasant.’

‘Start talking, you ass,’ Myungsoo growled, giving the other boy a hard shove.

Woohyun finally began with his words of wisdom as Myungsoo listened intently to every syllable. ‘Sungyeol fell for you, didn’t he? He fell for you when you weren’t a dry, virgin wannabe,’ Woohyun advised casually, ‘Just loosen up and be yourself.’

Myungsoo questioned in astonishment, pointing towards himself, ‘So you’re saying I should sleep around again?’

‘Are you fucking insane?!’ Woohyun spat, tugging Myungsoo’s sweaty hair a little. He then took a deep breath before clarifying, ‘I’m telling you to relax and be the lovable flirt I know you can be, not be a dickhead and make me smash the tar out of you.’

‘So be myself?’ the younger boy summed up.

‘Loosen up a bit,’ Woohyun confirmed. ‘And actually talk to Sungyeol. Don’t just creepily stare at him from a distance.’

Myungsoo frowned. Oh, so someone noticed.

-

That lunch, Sungjong was making his way to soccer practice, even though he was not on the team and didn’t know a thing about soccer, except for having to kick a ball into a goal. He just sat there and watched, thinking that maybe he’d want to be a strategist one day. At least it was an option, even though it was too specific and he had no interest in sports… Sungyeol’s cousin was pretty hot though.

Just when he was about to exit the building, he bumped into someone who was making their way inside. After apologising, he looked up and almost ran away. He just had to run into his ex. Not only that, Yongguk was with Minsoo and that was so close to awkward it was making out with awkward.

‘Sungjong, I didn’t know you went to this school…’ Minsoo commented.

Sungjong laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his neck, ‘Well, it’s been a while since we last talked.’

‘Yeah…’

Yongguk’s gaze shifted between them. ‘You two know each other?’ he queried, confused by the weird look on Sungjong’s face.

Minsoo began answering before Sungjong’s fist rudely came in collision with his stomach, ‘Yeah, we actually used to da- oof.’

‘We used to hang out. Our parents are friends,’ Sungjong lied, trying everything to salvage the situation.

Minsoo crooked an eyebrow. ‘But I’ve never met your - shit.’ It was a step on his foot this time.

Yongguk wasn’t falling for any of the crap and deadpanned, ‘So he’s your ex?’

‘Possibly,’ Sungjong sighed.

-

Sungyeol was sitting alone at a cafeteria table, quietly eating his lunch as he waited for Woohyun and Sunggyu, who promised to eat with him that afternoon. He heard a familiar hey and so looked up. But then he choked on his food and wanted to jump under the table because Myungsoo was there and smirking cynically right at him.

After regaining his composure, Sungyeol glared suspiciously at Myungsoo’s suddenly bright self.

Myungsoo asked with a pout of mock concern, ‘What’s wrong?’

‘What do you want?’ Sungyeol hissed, reminding himself not to fall for anything.

‘To know what’s wrong,’ Myungsoo shot back with a smile and a head-tilt.

Sungyeol sneered, refusing to fall for any mind tricks the other was using. He leaned over the table and whispered lowly, being more serious than he’d been in a long time, ‘Why are you like this so suddenly?’

‘Like what?’

‘Like how you were two months ago.’

Myungsoo smirked. ‘Oh, back when you fell for me?’

‘What?’ Sungyeol almost fell off the seat.

There was a proper smile, both corners of lips risen, teeth showing perfectly. Sungyeol lost his breath at how handsome Myungsoo was, but quickly snapped out of his daze. And then something that looked like a rather bashful and entirely genuine glint shone from Myungsoo’s eyes. ‘I really miss you, skyscraper,’ the younger boy said softly, making Sungyeol melt inside.

He told himself this was some kind of sick joke, shaking his head at the feeling Myungsoo’s gentle voice was giving him. He exhaled somewhat angrily, ‘Are you trying to mess with my head again?! ‘Cause I’m not going into bed with you.’

‘Of course not. I wouldn’t dream of having sex with you again,’ Myungsoo stated.

Sungyeol tipped his head at the unexpected denial. ‘Huh?’

‘Never going there again. Never ever. Nada,’ Myungsoo emphasised, playful grin at his lips.

Sungyeol blinked at him in confusion, not knowing what to say. He then thought about whether he was bad in bed or not. Was he? That couldn’t have been it, could’ve it?

Myungsoo’s human GPS found someone behind Sungyeol he could play with and so Myungsoo stood up, muttering as he didn’t take his eyes away from that someone in the distance, ‘Talk to you later, skyscraper. I found something interesting.’

He then made his leave and left Sungyeol feeling more confused than ever. Suddenly, Yongguk came and sat where Myungsoo just sat with a serious look on his face.

‘Hey Bangface, what do you want?’ Sungyeol snapped, pissed for no reason.

‘Myungsoo talking to you again?’

‘Heh. Kinda.’ Sungyeol had no freaking clue what the hell was that little conversation about and whether or not it had a follow-up in the near future.

‘Well, I thought I would be the one to tell you that Sungjong’s ex is at this school,’ Yongguk stated, confirming all the little rumours that were just beginning to surface.

Sungyeol’s mood changed in an instant, suddenly hyper and ready to do what he did best. He exclaimed brightly, ‘Really? This is going to be brilliant! We could -‘

‘No, Sungyeol. There is no we this time,’ Yongguk sighed, patting Sungyeol’s shoulder in comfort.

Sungyeol pouted and made his eyes all teary. ‘But -‘

‘I have to do this on my own.’

‘Okay… I understand,’ Sungyeol mumbled, although still a little disappointed that he couldn’t participate in the task. ‘If you need any help, you know where to find me.’

‘Thank you,’ Yongguk thanked, taking Sungyeol’s hand in a firm handshake.

‘If you need any explosives, I know a guy,’ Sungyeol mentioned, a wild look on his face.

‘Not going to that extent, my friend.’

‘You’re no fun.’

-

After the last period of the day, there was commotion in the locker hall. Sunggyu had just left from a quick conversation with the principal and found a sea of students in the locker hall.

‘Disperse,’ Sunggyu demanded, receiving a hefty response almost immediately. The students walked back, all eyeing Sunggyu carefully and silently as they did so. Sunggyu almost slapped something after he saw what was holding all of their attention. He found Woohyun in the crowd laughing his head off and so dragging him towards the source of amusement by the ear so he could begin his interrogation.

‘May I ask if you know why Sungjong’s ex-boyfriend is attached to his locker by a makeshift spider web?’ Sunggyu asked, arms crossed.

Woohyun rubbed his reddened ear as he explained, ‘It’s a West campus tradition. A friend’s ex always becomes the primary target.’

‘West campus is completely absurd,’ Sunggyu huffed, making his way towards the crowd.

‘I’m sure East campus is normal… without the bleachers,’ Woohyun snorted, not that Sunggyu heard it over the chatter and giggles of pretty much all of Paran.

Sunggyu slipped off his blazer and threw it at Woohyun’s face, the younger boy barely catching it. He then tugged on the white sticky string until it snapped and Minsoo fell to the ground in a heap of tangled limps. When the student finally got up to a seating position, having had struggled with the sticky string that was trapping him, he looked up at Sunggyu in gratitude. ‘Thank you - Sunggyu…’ he trailed off, looking as though the heavens were above him.

Sunggyu smiled toothlessly and said amusement, ‘Welcome to Paran.’

The audience applauded and catcalled before Sunggyu said something about getting their shit and going home. Woohyun turned into a zombie and hovered over to Sunggyu with an unreadable expression on his face.

‘He looked at you like you were an angel,’ Woohyun commented.

Sunggyu twitched his head and muttered, ‘Even after all this time, he still…’

‘What?’

There was a lopsided smirk that only made Woohyun more curious. ‘Why do you think Sungjong broke up with him?’ Sunggyu stated, enjoying the hilarity of the situation, ‘He liked Sungjong’s friend instead.’

‘Bang Minsoo likes you?!’ Woohyun gasped a little too loudly.

‘Don’t be so surprised. It makes me feel unworthy,’ Sunggyu whined jokingly, shooting Woohyun a cute pout before walking to his locker.

-

‘Are you mad at me?’ Yongguk asked right after the… incident happened.

Sungjong had a stern expression on his face, but answered, ‘No.’

Yongguk saw right through him. ‘Be honest.’

‘…Yes.’

‘I had to,’ Yongguk stated. It was tradition and he wasn’t willing to give up on a tradition just yet, not when Sungyeol was staring at him in expectance with those giant puppy eyes. The get-back-at-the-ex tradition was Sungyeol’s all-time favourite, after all.

Sungjong sighed, trying to be a little optimistic - Dongwoo always pestered him about his negativity, ‘Well, it’s not as bad as what I thought you were going to do to him, so that’s a plus.’

‘You’re not allowed to go near him,’ Yongguk warned shamelessly.

Sungjong scoffed, ‘Don’t be like this. I’ll call Sunggyu-hyung on you!’

‘I don’t think Sunggyu would do anything.’ Sunggyu probably wouldn’t do anything. He didn’t really care for Sungjong’s relationships, not when Sungjong was handling them so well on his own. Sungjong had Yongguk on a leash, so Sungjong was the least of Sunggyu’s worries.

‘Yeah, especially since he finds amusement in my misery…’

‘Just don’t… touch him, then.’

‘Deal.’ He wasn’t planning to anyway.

‘I’ll call you tonight.’

‘Sure.’

Yongguk walked past, towards his bus stop and Sungjong let out a massive sigh before walking to his.

-

Myungsoo somehow, with his ability to twist minds and brainwash the innocent, got Woohyun to buy him ice-cream after school. Woohyun didn’t say anything and paid for the mango and passionfruit ice-cream like a bitch.

‘Sungjong’s ex likes your brother,’ he remarked after the two sat on a park bench.

‘Weird, huh?’ Myungsoo laughed, only caring about the food in his hands.

Woohyun didn’t say anything else and Myungsoo knew what the lack of conversation and the pissy expression added up to.

‘Don’t tell me you’re jealous,’ he chuckled, smacking Woohyun’s back.

Woohyun snapped, ‘What am I jealous of?’

‘Hyun, don’t play stupid.’

‘There’s nothing to be jealous of! Why would I be jealous?’ Woohyun rambled to himself, acting crazy, in Myungsoo’s opinion.

Myungsoo sang in a high-pitched tempo, ‘Denial,’ only angering Woohyun more. Myungsoo commented fondly, kindly letting Woohyun have a bite of the ice-cream he paid for, ‘You know what? We’ve both been jealous of new kids this year then.’

‘I’m not jealous!’ Woohyun roared.

Myungsoo agreed sarcastically, ‘Sure, sure, and I don’t love ass.’

Woohyun groaned into his hands.

-

‘I don’t think it really matters,’ Dongwoo said all of a sudden, that night. Before that, Howon and Dongwoo were quietly watching television as Dongwoo’s parents went out to eat dinner. Dongwoo refused to go because Howon said he was coming over with take-out.

‘What doesn’t?’

‘Your mother is an alcoholic and she works all the time… I don’t think it really matters if she still loves you,’ Dongwoo specified, leaning into the younger boy’s side as he popped another piece of popcorn into his mouth.

Howon’s eyebrows knitted together. ‘What do you mean?’

‘I mean you should treat her nicer,’ Dongwoo laughed, not knowing how to make it any more simple.

‘How?’

Dongwoo shrugged, but rather than saying just be nice, he said, ‘Give her a hug once in a while. Show her she means something to you, that she’s appreciated.’

Howon thought about ways to show his mother he appreciated her for the whole night.

-

‘Cats or dogs?’

Sunggyu shook his head, turning the device off speaker and placing it against his ear. ‘Dongwoo,’ he answered, resting his forearm on the balcony railing.

Woohyun frowned, but continued, ‘Batman or Spiderman?’

‘Dongwoo,’ Sunggyu answered sternly this time, finding fun in the way he could practically feel Woohyun gritting his teeth through the phone.

Woohyun eventually nagged, ‘You have to pick one of the options I’m giving you!’

‘Who allowed you to write the rules?’ Sunggyu countered, chuckling at Woohyun’s annoyance.

In a way, Sunggyu could hear Woohyun’s pout through the silence. Sunggyu finally relented - it wasn’t because Woohyun was cute, oh heaven’s no, but because Sunggyu felt a strange sense of pity towards Woohyun. ‘Fine,’ Sunggyu grunted, rolling his eyes.

Woohyun began again, ‘Sungjong or Myungsoo?’

‘Based on what?’

‘Looks.’

Sunggyu thought for a moment before he realised he was related to Myungsoo and he refused to call his own brother good-looking. ‘Sungjong.’

‘Dongwoo or Howon?’

This question was harder as Sunggyu had never really thought of either of them in that sense. In Sunggyu’s eyes, Howon was like another brother and Dongwoo was a puppy he couldn’t say no to. It was a hard decision, but he eventually uttered out unsurely, ‘Dongwoo…?’

Woohyun was a little surprised at the answer. He thought Howon’s face had a certain charm, if you ignore all the blank surrounding and dripping from it. He picked a rather obvious combo next: ‘Sungyeol or Yongguk?’

‘Sungyeol,’ Sunggyu said without a thought. He honestly had no interest in Yongguk and Woohyun was kind of relieved for some odd reason he couldn’t really explain. Maybe he just thought he was better looking than Yongguk, which he told himself to believe was the case.

‘Bang Minsoo or… me?’ Woohyun’s voice came out quieter at the end of the options. He emphasised, knowing what Sunggyu was like, ‘Don’t bullshit, okay?’

Sunggyu pondered for a moment. He’d never thought of Woohyun like that - every time he saw Woohyun’s face, he wanted to punch it. Everyone around them seemed to think Woohyun’s looks were the shit, but Sunggyu didn’t really notice. Even Myungsoo thought Woohyun had something going on for him. Judging by the amount of people asking for Woohyun’s number every week and the amount of “relations” he had in the past, Woohyun was hot. But Sunggyu didn’t sense anything at all.

And then there was Bang Minsoo who Sunggyu always saw as the kid who always stared at him funny. He never really had any time to check out his face when the guy made him feel that uncomfortable.

The question was more or less unanswerable, so Sunggyu joked, ‘…Me?’

‘I’m hanging up,’ Woohyun spat immediately.

Sunggyu laughed, ‘Don’t be like that… You really did hang up?’ He then checked his phone screen and saw the line was disconnected. His eyes narrowed at the contact name Masochist before muttering lowly to himself, ‘Idiot.’
