They arrived at the Temple about half an hour later. Since it was still early in the day not many people was around and they had no problems finding a place to park in the parking lot that was situated by the foot of the hill on which the temple was placed. They would need to walk up by foot on a small path surrounded by the wild and beautiful nature.
"Ah, finally" Ryo said as he got out from the car and put on his sunglasses. Even though there weren't much people around they had decided to cover up themselves slightly with sunglasses and hats. "Yeah" Ueda said as he locked the door and then took in the surrounding through the sunglasses Ryo had bought him. "Let's race to the top"
"Huh? What? Are you crazy?" Ryo said turning around to face Ueda as the other walked around the car.
"Nope" Ueda smiled. "The last one to the top has to pay for the lunch"
"Hey wait!" Ryo shouted as Ueda started to run away from him. "I did not agree with this"
But Ryo started running nonetheless since he really didn't want to lose but Ueda was already far ahead so his chances of winning was fairly low.
"You're kind of slow" Ueda smirked when Ryo finally got up to the top of the hill.
"Shut up" Ryo snapped as he bent over resting his hands on his knees while catching his breath "You cheated. You started running long before me! And I didn't even agree to race!"
"Ne, ne Ryo" Ueda said walking over and patted his boyfriend on the back. "What did I say about losing your smile today?"
"You are so mean" Ryo said forcing a smile upon his face but the forced smile soon turned into a genuine one as Ueda slipped his hand into his.
"Come on, we've got a lot to see" Ueda said and started to drag Ryo with him through the gates to the temple garden.
The view that met them sure was a beautiful one, the garden was filled with flowers in all the colors of the rainbow and at the end of the path that led through it the majestic temple was standing in all its glory. The rays from the sun hitting it made it look like it was shinning, like it had a halo. They strolled down the path slowly, taking it all in while their interlocked hands swung slightly between them.
"This is beautiful" Ueda commented turning to face Ryo.
"Yeah, I wonder if this temple has a wishing well" Ryo replied and started to look around as if he was searching for one.
"You don't really believe in that kind of things do you?" Ueda asked raising his right eyebrow slightly but his eyes unconsciously started to search for one too.
"Maybe, maybe not" Ryo answered. "But it's always fun to make a wish even if it might not work"
"That's kind of true." Ueda smiled. "So what would you wish for then?"
"Not telling" Ryo smirked. "If I tell it definitely won't come true"
"Come on!" Ueda whined and hit the other playfully on the upper arm.
"Okay, I'll whisper it to you" Ryo said and mentioned for Ueda to lean in closer. Ueda got surprised that Ryo gave in so quickly but beamed nonetheless as he leaned in closer to the other; eager to hear the other's wish.
"I would wish that you would treat me for lunch" Ryo said in a low tone hot air tickling Ueda's ear slightly.
"You can't be serious" Ueda stared at Ryo with wide eyes and his statement got confirmed as he saw how a big smirk was growing on the others lips. Ryo had clearly just played with him.
"Of course I am" Ryo said still smirking "but that's not my only wish though"
"You're so childish sometimes" Ueda said shaking his head slightly at the smirking man.
"And you are not?" Ryo raised his eyebrows.
"I never said I wasn't" Ueda smiled as he nudged Ryo slightly with his eyebrows. Now it was Ryo's turn to shake his head, but out of amusement. "Come on, let's go and check out the temple"
Ryo just nodded and they quickened their pace slightly walking towards the temple.
"Just great!" Ryo muttered as he and Ueda was standing outside the temple door. A big sign on the door was telling them that it was impossible for them to walk inside due to some kind of renovation.
"Keep smile!" Ueda said patting Ryo's back. "Let's just enjoy this beautiful garden instead, and let's go look for the wishing well. Maybe you can make a wish that they'll open up for us"
"Like I would waste my wish on something like that" Ryo huffed before he let a smile spread across his face as he grabbed a hold of Ueda's hand that he had let go of slightly a moment ago. "Let's walk around here for a while and after that let's drive somewhere else. There must be lots of villages to see around here."
"Sounds like a plan to me" Ueda smiled and started to walk pulling Ryo with him. As they got back down into the garden they noticed that other people had started to show up. They had been completely alone up here when they had arrived, or at least they had thought so since they hadn't seen anybody else but they couldn't be sure about that fact. Ueda let go of Ryo's hand quickly, now that people was around there was a chance that someone would to recognize them. He gave Ryo a small smile in apology before he started to walk around the temple Ryo following of course. The garden on the backside of the temple was bigger and when gazed out over it they saw something that looked like what Ryo had wanted to find; a wishing well.
"Come on!" Ryo said grabbing a hold of Ueda's hand again as he quickly made his way towards the well. "Now that there actually is one here we just have to make wishes!"
Ueda chuckled slightly as he let himself being dragged along towards the well that looked really old, and like it had been through both rough and happy times. They reached the well in mere seconds and as they did Ryo let go of Ueda's hand again to support his arms on the walls of the well and leaned forwards to look down into it. Ueda did the same and to his surprise it was quite a lot of water in it, and it was clear so you could see all the coins that other people had thrown in glittering. He looked up from the water and towards Ryo only to see that he had already brought out his wallet to get out some coins.
"Here" Ryo said handing Ueda a coin to throw in.
"Thanks, but I ha-" Ueda started to decline but got cut off by Ryo grabbing his hand and forcing the coin into his hand and then closing his fingers over it.
"Just take it" Ryo said clearly not wanting to argue over something as pity as a few yens. Ueda smiled at Ryo before he opened his hand and looked at the coin for a second.
"Thanks" he then said and turned to the well. He closed his eyes and held out the coin above the water but suddenly he realized that he had no idea what to wish for. World Peace? Everlasting love? A long and healthy life? All those seemed so boring and stereotypical even if he really wanted all of those. He opened his eyes to glance over at Ryo to see that the other had also closed his eyes and he seemed to be in deep concentration, but a smile still decorated his face. Ueda smiled at the sight before he closed his eyes again, he knew exactly what he would wish for now. He closed his eyes hard and concentrated really hard on his wish as he let the coin drop from his hand. He let his eyes stay shut for a few more seconds before he opened them to see that Ryo was smiling towards him.
"What did you wish for?" Ryo asked tilting his head slightly to the side with a smile.
"It won't come true if I tell you" Ueda replied sitting down on the wall around the well and looked down at the coins in the water. "You said so yourself just moments ago, or have you already forgot about that?"
"No, I just wanted to see if I could trick you to tell me" Ryo said sitting down next to Ueda letting his hand place itself on top of the other's.
"You thought you'd be able to trick me that easily?" Ueda said arching his eyebrows. "I'm not Jin you know"
"I'm quite aware of that thank you very much" Ryo frowned. "But I managed to fool you earlier, so I just wanted to see if I could have the same luck twice"
"Baka!" Ueda snickered and shoved Ryo slightly on the chest causing Ryo to lose his balance and almost fall over the edge. Luckily Ueda was quick enough to get a hold of his arm before Ryo managed to make a back flip down into the well.
"I'm sorry" Ueda said as he helped Ryo get his balance back and gave him a worried look. "I didn't mean to shove you so hard."
"Of course not" Ryo smirked and that smirk itself made Ueda almost want to shove him again in the ribs but he controlled himself. He wouldn't be able to forgive himself in a long time if he actually made Ryo fall into the well, and Ryo would probably not do so as well.
"Let's go" Ryo said breaking of Ueda's inner monolog and got up from the wall. "You can treat me for lunch later to apologize for almost knocking me into the well"
"But you're the one who are suppose to treat me" Ueda argued getting up as well.
"Let's say we're even then." Ryo said dusting of his trousers. "We pay for our meals ourselves"
"No, how about you treat me for lunch, after all I did win" Ueda said putting a hand over Ryo's mouth before the other could butt in. "And I treat you to dessert and let you drive the car?"
"Okay, deal" Ryo said as Ueda let go of his mouth. "But it's still quite a while before we'd need to find somewhere to eat so what do we do till's then?"
"Let's just find a nice spot somewhere here and laze in the sun"
They stayed by the temple for another couple of hours doing almost nothing before they headed back to the car. By know there was a lot more people walking around the place, luckily for them it seemed to be mostly elderly people who probably had no idea who they were, or at least not their names. They had almost reached the car when they heard someone shout their name not too far away from them. Fangirls? Ryo and Ueda quickly turned around to see who it was and their eyes widen in surprise when they saw who it was.
