Chapter 28
A while later Ueda had finally finished of his report with 5 pages written. He heaved a big sigh of relief dropping his pen and head down closing his eyes in the process. Kame better be happy with the report after all the work he had put into this.
"Done?" Junno asked from Ueda's right side. Ueda just nodded without opening his eyes and smiled slightly. "You've put a lot of work in it" Junno continued to comment. "Kame will be pleased that you put so much effort in to it."
"How did you know that it was for Kame I did the report?" Ueda asked opening his eyes in surprise. He had not mentioned to who he done it before had he?
"I just figured. Who else here would make you do something like that?" Junno smirked towards Ueda before going back to his book. It was the same book, Ueda noticed now, that he had seen Shige read just days ago. "And you'd never do something like that just for fun, right?"
"Yeah, you're right" Ueda said glancing over at his friend. Junno sure was more observant than he had ever thought. "Is that the same book Shige read the other day? It's really thick"
"Yeah, he lent it to me" Junno answered not bothering to look over at Ueda. "He recommended it to me; he somehow thought that I might like it"
"Ah, okay" Ueda said closing his eyes again figuring he could take a short nap and let Junno continue on with his reading without disturbance. Their peace was disturbed just seconds later though when their laughing friends made their way back from the water. Ryo slumped himself down next to Ueda and teasingly splashed some water from his hair down on Ueda but unfortunately some of it also landed on the report Ueda had worked his ass off on.
"What the-" Ueda said first annoyed but when he saw the spots of water on his homework, making some of the ink flow out and making the signs unreadable it changed to furious. "Nishikido Ryo!"
"What?" Ryo said not understand at all what he had done wrong.
"You baka!" Ueda said grabbing the papers shoving them up in Ryo's face. "You messed up all my hard work!"
"What work?" Ryo asked confused taking the papers from Ueda to give them a closer look.
"Why are you doing work on your vacation?" Yamapi butted in into their conversation and that's when Ueda realized that he wasn't really alone with Ryo and that his voice was loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Mind your own business" Ryo snapped back before Ueda could think of a good lie. "Princess can do whatever he wants on his free time"
"Ryo-kun!" Koyama said slightly scandalized "That harsh tone was really unnecessary"
Ryo just glared back at him before sending the glare towards everybody else, silently threatening them to not to disturb them anymore. They seemed to get the hint and started up loud conversations while Ryo took a hold of Ueda's hand and dragged him away a bit from the others.
"What is this?" he then asked in a whisper as they stopped a few meters away.
"Just what the title says" Ueda answered snatching back his work. "And you've ruined it. I worked really hard on it!"
"And why would you write a date-report?" Ryo frowned "and for who?"
"Kame" Ueda sighed glancing over at the papers that were now covered with some black dots. "And now I have to re-write it."
"Of course" Ryo said scratching the back of his head. "Only he would ever order you to do that and managing to make you actually do so. And don't you worry; I'll help you out with it"
"You would actually do that?" Ueda asked surprised his voice going up a notch.
"Don't be so surprised" Ryo huffed looking a bit offended "You know I can be a good guy sometimes"
"I know" Ueda smiled and couldn't help but reach out his hand to stroke his boyfriend's cheek softly. "And thanks. I'm really happy"
"You welcome princess" Ryo said leaning in for a kiss but again Ueda stopped him by moving his hand that had still been stroking the other's cheek and placing it over Ryo's mouth instead.
"No, no" Ueda smiled again "We're in public. You'll have to wait until we're alone and tills we're done with the report."
Ryo growled slightly but didn't protest as he grabbed a hold of Ueda's hand and pulled it away from his face and started to walk back towards the others, still holding on to Ueda's hand.

"Lunch, lunch, lunch" Tegoshi and Masuda chanted as the whole group made their ways back from the beach a couple of hours later. Ryo and Ueda were walking a bit behind the others, Ryo being the one holding them back slightly having Ueda's hand in a firm grip. When the others walk to the left Ryo motions Ueda to stop and stand still for a short moment before he pulls Ueda with him in a different direction. Ueda didn't question Ryo's motive for leaving the group cause he was pretty sure what the answer would be and he really didn't mind being alone with Ryo. They didn't say anything as they kept on walking but soon Ueda recognized the path they were walking as the one they had walked a few days ago. That day, that evening more precisely, when he got so terribly drunk causing him to pass out on the bar. Ueda blushed slightly thinking about it.
"What are you blushing for?" Ryo asked with a smirk when he noticed the blush on his boyfriends face, making Ueda to blush even more.
"Nothing" Ueda answered turning away from the other's gaze; pretending to give the houses they passed by a better look. "Why are we walking this way?" he then asked trying to change the subject.
"I thought we could have our lunch at the restaurant we visited a few days ago" Ryo answered. "When I went to the toilet I saw a door that lead out to this nice back garden with a few tables and I thought that it would be nice having lunch out there"
"Wh-what?" Ueda asked shocked turning around to face Ryo.
"What's with that reaction?" Ryo frowned. "I thought you liked the place, and if we sit in back we would probably get a lot of privacy and we wouldn't have to worry about anyone seeing us and you know..."
"I liked it" Ueda said turning away again. "But that was before I got drunk and passed out. What if they recognize me?"
"Oh, don't you worry about that" Ryo chuckled pulling Ueda closer by the arm. "I'm sure they're used to people acting like that"
"It's not funny" Ueda muttered hitting Ryo on the upper arm with his fist.
"Ouch, that really hurt" Ryo complained letting go of Ueda's hand for a short moment to better be able to rub his arm where it had gotten hit.
"You had it coming." Ueda said glaring at the other.
"Yeah I know" Ryo said grabbing Ueda's hand again. "And I'm sorry. But I really wanna go and eat there with you"
"Why?" Ueda asked. "Why can't we go anywhere else?"
"Well..." Ryo started and Ueda noticed that he seemed to be a bit uncomfortable. "The thing is that... well I sort of want to go there again since it sort of was there I..."
"It was there you?" Ueda egged on when Ryo paused for a moment; he was really getting curious now.
"Ah, this is starting to get a bit embarrassing" Ryo said scratching the back of his head.
"I'll tell you something embarrassing in return" Ueda offered squeezing Ryo's hand to give him courage.
"Oh, okay" Ryo smiled weakly. "That night when I went to the toilet, I actually called Nino. I just had to talk with him about, well, you and the confusing feelings I had about you and uhm... about the almost kiss. And well he made me realize what I felt, and yeah well encouraged me to try and kiss and tell you. So that place kind of has a special meaning to me."
"Oh..." was all that Ueda could say after that, he had definitely not expected to here that.
"Oh God! I shouldn't have told you" Ryo growled slapping his forehead. "This makes me sound so lame and sappy"
"No" Ueda shook his head wearing a soft smile. "You're not lame at all, well not if you compare it with me"
"Really?" Ryo raised his left eyebrow and gave Ueda a skeptical look. "So what did you do to make you say that?"
"Promise not to laugh before I tell you" Ueda said and Ryo gave him a nod. "Say it"
"Okay, I promise not to laugh" Ryo said apparently really curious now.
"Okay, this also is about that night." Ueda started to blush slightly. "I got really drunk, right?"
"Yeah?" Ryo said motioning for him to go on with a nod of his head.
"The reason I drank that much is..." Ueda said taking a deep breath and looked straight in front of him focusing his eyes on a red ball lying on the pavement a few meters away from them. "That was because I thought that it would give me courage enough to kiss you. Or at least tell you what I felt."
When Ueda didn't get any reaction from Ryo he slowly and with caution turned his face towards the other only to see how Ryo seemed to be fighting hard to hold back a laugh.
"You said you wouldn't laugh" Ueda muttered.
"I'm..." Ryo said taking a deep breath forcing his laughter back down his throat. "not laughing"
"But you want to" Ueda pointed out with a sigh.
"Can you blame me?" Ryo asked with a grin. "The image of you getting trashed just to kiss me is just so funny and adorable. You must be able to see the fun in it?"
"Of course I do. That's why I told you not to laugh" Ueda said trying to fight back a threatening grin.
"You're grinning" Ryo teased. "You wanna laugh too"
"I do not" Ueda said not being able to stay serious as the grin spread across his face.
"Just let it out" Ryo prodded chuckling and with that Ueda couldn't help himself but started laughing. Ryo grinned at the laughing Ueda next to him before he started to laugh just as hard and they had to stop walking and sit down on the pavement to calm down. It felt nice laughing like that, they never really laughed like that together. And the drunken story was kind of really funny Ueda just had to admit.

A while later Ryo had managed to easily convince Ueda to eat at that place, and they were sitting in that back garden by a table under an apple tree. While waiting for their food to arrive Ueda had pulled out his report and let Ryo read it in for their work on re-writing it later.
"You've forgotten to write down what you wished for" Ryo commented looking up from the paper.
"Why would I write that?" Ueda said sipping on his glass of water. "It won't come true if I tell anyone right?"
"But telling and writing down is not the same" Ryo replied. "I'm sure it won't matter if you write it down"
"You just really bad want to know what I wished for" Ueda smirked. "And writing something down is just another way of communicating."
"Hmf" Ryo said going back to his reading. Ueda just smiled and continued to sip on his water while watching Ryo and every now and then Ryo would asked him what it should be written every time he came across a black dot on the paper. It was really peaceful and comfortable, and adding to that feeling was the fact that they were alone there in the garden. When the food arrived they took turns feeding each other's while talking about how they could improve the report and toe flirting.
