Twentieth scent - Tomorrow
Life goes on. No matter what bad things happen to us, no matter how hard or deep we fall, life won’t stop just because we’ve reached the end of a pit. It continues and it forces us to live on with it, making us pretend that everything is alright and that we’re okay, that nothing had happened to us. We close our eyes, take a deep breath and then go forward, prepared to face the struggles of tomorrow, hoping that light will find us some day and it will change our pathetic life.
Life goes on. But can we keep up with it?
“Who the hell is the imbecile?!” Jin yelled in his pillow, the words being muffled by it. He lazily raised his head and looked around the room for the annoying object, tracking down the sound to be coming from Kazuya’s backpack. He cursed through his teeth and got off bed, rummaging through the boy’s bag and finally taking out the phone, answering it nervously with a barked “Hello”.
There was silence from the other side of the phone for a couple of moments, before a growl followed. “Why are you answering Kazuya’s phone?” Koki asked and he needed no further confirmation of who had taken upon his call.
Jin glanced at Kazuya, feeling already fully awaken. He took his time answering as he crossed the room and went out, closing the door behind him and going on the balcony to enjoy some fresh air and the cigars he had taken with him on the way. “He’s not available.” He finally answered after a couple of minutes, shrugging a little even if Koki couldn’t see it. It was obvious from his tone how much he cared anyway.
Koki sighed. It wasn’t the time to get angry over some stupid jerk like Jin and he needed to be sure that Kazuya was safe. “I want to talk with him.” He replied, his tone the same as Jin’s, not caring if the older one was allowing it or not. After all, he had waited for Kazuya to sort out himself before calling. And… well, why lying? He had to sort himself out too. After all, Kazuya getting drugged and seen was easier to digest than Kazuya whoring himself and be seen.
“And I said he’s not available.” Jin repeated his words, a tint of annoyance in his tone.
“And who’re you to decide about Kazuya?” Koki countered, feeling his own temper kicking back at him. “You’ve only done harm to him till now.” He added bitterly.
“And who are you to decide if I’ve done harm or good to him?” Jin asked back as he lightened his cigar and took a long drag from it.
“Isn’t it clearly?” Koki snorted, mocking clear in his voice. “I’m someone you’ll never be for Kazuya. Someone who knows how to treat him well and doesn’t dirty him in front of the whole college.” He continued, the rising hate evident in his tone. “And I know it was you who did that to Kazuya, you scumbag.”
“Well, how perceptive of you.” Jin laughed into the phone, feeling really amused about this. “And what else do you know?” he asked with a curious tone while taking another drag.
Koki laughed shortly. “I know you were the one to make Ueda go away.” He then snarled, accusation clearly stated in his voice. “And although Kazuya doesn’t clearly know, I’m not sure he’ll be pleased to hear.” He then added with a half satisfied voice.
Jin laughed too, though much more maliciously and with much more indifference in his voice. “Do you want to know the real reason Ueda left?” he asked, his voice sounding a little bit teasing, as if he was pleading Koki to refuse.
“So you could lie?” Koki replied with a harsh tone. “Maybe Kazuya’s staying with you because of your lies, but I ain’t going to even listen to them. I talked with Ueda, that’s all I need.”
“Sorry, but the one thing I never do is to lie.” Jin said, sounding a little serious for the moment, but then quickly adding: “But amuse me, how much did he tell you?” he asked with the same playful voice, taking a seat down on the floor and throwing his finished cigar to light another.
“Yeah, sure and pigs fly.” Koki said with a laugh. “And it’s not your business what Ueda or Kazuya told me. After all, your lies still got found out.” He insisted, but then he decided it was better to drop such subjects seeing as it led to nowhere. “If I can’t talk with Kazuya, I’ll go to his place.”
“Go, it’s not like you’ll find him there.” Jin replied simply, thinking that his men were still outside and if Jin didn’t want it, Koki wasn’t setting a foot into that building and Kazuya would never know.
“Then I’ll wait for him. It doesn’t matter to me, I’ll find a way to talk with Kazuya even if we’d do it without you knowing it.” Koki retorted and there was a smirk present in his voice. “Just so you know, you won’t keep Kazuya away from me.”
“I’m not trying to keep Kazuya away from you.” Jin confessed with a shrug. “If I wanted, you would have never seen him again, but unfortunately for you, I don’t have anything against him seeing you.” He continued with a confident and a little superior tone.
At this one, Koki was silent for a few moments. “Then why did you do that to him? Why did you ruin his life in that horrible way?” Koki asked with a serious voice.
“I don’t have to give you explanations when you don’t know anything about me and Kazuya.” Jin retorted, feeling kind of annoyed this time but not showing it. “It’s not like you give me explanations about you and Kazuya, right?” he then asked with a calmer voice, remembering about Ueda and what he had told Koki before leaving.
“But you ask it to Kazuya. You go and ask him for explanations.” Koki accused, remembering the first time Jin had marched onto them and brutally threw Koki aside. “And don’t assume I don’t know anything about you and Kazuya. We might not be the best buddies, but Kazuya is still my friend and he trusts me.”
“Of course I ask them from Kazuya, he’s my lover.” Jin replied with a tone of are-you-stupid?. “I have the right to be jealous and do something about it.” He added serenely.
Though Koki was a bit surprised at the lover thing, he didn’t let it show in his voice as he spoke. “And lovers do this kind of thing? Hurt the one they call lover?” he asked mockingly, mirroring the same words Ueda had asked Jin awhile ago.
“So what? Now I’m receiving lessons from you of how to be a better boyfriend?” Jin asked with a jeering tone, rolling his eyes at the irony of it.
“Maybe you should listen and maybe Kazuya would be less reluctant when it comes to seeing you.” Koki replied simply.
“Even so,” Jin said, “Kazuya still comes back to me and he still loves me. I don’t need anything more than that.” He confessed, feeling his heart beating faster again only thinking at the younger’s words from yesterday.
“Isn’t it because you had threatened him with something that he always returns?” Koki asked with a half mocking voice. “Are you sure Kazuya loves you?” he continued, not really knowing where he wanted to get with this, but as long as Kazuya would be free of Jin, then… he was more than pleased.
“I gave him drugs at first and he gave me sex.” Jin sighed tiredly, not knowing why he was really talking about this with Koki. It seemed… weird, but nevertheless he couldn’t stop from talking. “We soon became lovers and I didn’t give him anymore drugs since then even if I told him I would. And even after I told him I won’t give them to him, he still came back. And he chose to give up on them to be with me. And if I only hurt him as you say I did, tell me. Why is he still with me?” he asked a simple question, knowing that Koki will surely say something smart in reply but not really caring if he had managed to make him think a little bit that maybe there was more than what he knew.
It wouldn’t hurt to have him off his back.
But Koki didn’t reply anything smart nor did he feel like he had a reason why. Although there was a long sigh at the other side of the phone. “Tell Kazuya I’ll call later and he should be the one answering.” He simply said and without any further words, he hung up on Jin. Sometimes, even friends couldn’t interfere in one’s life if the other one was set on destroying it piece by piece. They could only stand and watch until there was nothing left and then go to their friend and help him rebuild his life again. And this was what Koki was going to do - stand by Kazuya.
Jin shrugged on the other line and closed the phone with a click, finishing already his fifth cigar for that morning. He sat up and went back to the bedroom, planning to sleep a little more and stepping carefully to not wake the younger. He opened the door slowly and sighed relieved when he saw that Kazuya was still sleeping. He put the phone on the nightstand and climbed up, checking the younger’s forehead for fever and smiling contently when he didn’t find anything out of normal. The cloth had fallen somewhere after Jin had replaced it for the nth time so he took it from the bed and placed it into the bowl, stretching his body and then slipping under the covers to continue his sleep, his hand on Kazuya’s waist and his body almost glued to the boy’s.
“Where were you?” Kazuya’s sleepy voice could be heard all of a sudden. He had been awake for a while and when he hadn’t felt Jin by his side, something made him think that everything that had happened yesterday had been a dream and in fact he had been all alone. But then Jin entered and he couldn’t help but hold his breath as the older slipped back next to him, replacing the coldness of the sheets with his body’s warmth. Still, Kazuya was awake and curious about why Jin took so long to come back after leaving him.
“I though you were sleeping.” Jin reproached the younger, feeling slightly stupid for having taken so much care to not disturb him only to find out that he was awake already.
Kazuya turned to face Jin and his eyes were wide opened. “I was till you left.” He replied and looked at Jin while biting his lower lip. “Where did you go?” he asked again, carefully watching Jin’s face.
The older sighed. He had kind of hoped to avoid this conversation with Kazuya but it seemed that it wasn’t possible anymore. “Koki called.” He simply said, hoping that this will be the end of it and knowing that it was just a wishful thinking.
Kazuya sprang up immediately, looking down at Jin and then noticing his phone on the desk. “And why didn’t you wake me up?” He asked with a harsh tone only to end with a feeble one as dizziness swept over him and Kazuya had to hold his head with both hands. “I wanted to talk with him too…” he mumbled, closing his eyes. He had been afraid that Koki will never want to talk with him ever again after that video and yet he had called. Could he hope - dare to hope - to still call Koki his friend?
“Because of this.” Jin replied gently as he also sat up and hugged Kazuya. “You had a fever last night and you still need rest. You have time to talk to him, I don’t think it’s going to be a problem.” He smiled, thinking at Koki’s words. Maybe he didn’t like the guy, but Kazuya did and if Kazuya was happy to be Koki’s friend, then Jin was happy too because Koki hadn’t bailed out.
Kazuya whimpered in Jin’s arms and leaned gratefully in the hug. “Did he - how did he sound?” he asked with a feeble voice, the worry and fear in it saying more than the words he had uttered. After all, he couldn’t bring himself to ask Jin if Koki was disgusted by what he had seen.
“Well, he seemed more determined to make me pay for what I’ve done than to accuse you of anything.” Jin chuckled, kissing Kazuya’s cheek. “Which reminds me, how much does he know about all of this?” the older asked, now really curious about Koki’s words and not planning to give up that easily.
Kazuya shook his head. “He doesn’t know anything, but he suspects a lot and my moments of silence must have led him to confirmation sometimes.” He said, remembering all the times Koki had come to him to inquire about his relationship with Jin. But since it had been dangerous from the beginning, Kazuya hadn’t told him anything beside the drugs. “I only told him about the fact that you were supplying me with drugs.” He added with a sigh. “That was the day when you saw us professing our friend love.” Kazuya said with a tint of reproach.
“Well, it didn’t sound like that.” Jin pouted, pursing his lips and puffing his cheeks in defiance. He then seemed to get serious again with his next question - even if it was kind of insane to ask this. “Do you know why Ueda left?” he asked carefully.
Kazuya shook his head again. “The guys said that it was because of his family situation, but I think Ueda left because of me. He didn’t even want to talk with me when we met at Koki’s external.” The younger sighed and cuddled some more into Jin’s arms. “And Koki loves me differently than you love me and I love Koki differently than I love you.” Kazuya felt the need to add having noticed Jin’s defiant reply from earlier. “You needn’t to think stupidities.”
Jin chose to shut up and not say that most likely Ueda left because of him and not Kazuya as the younger seemed to believe. “Ueda left because he had fallen in love with me, that’s all.” He still chose to say, at least a little part of the truth to stop Kazuya from accusing himself. He didn’t comment anything on the younger’s last words, just kissed him on the temple and hugged him tighter. He knew that already, Jin had understood in the end that Kazuya loved him and only him. And he could tolerate others if they were just friends.
“Is it?” Kazuya mumbled and sighed inwardly. There had been a lot of things unsaid between him and Ueda and although his love for Jin had been a reason for leaving, Kazuya felt that he had his share of guilt too. But he’ll never meet with Ueda again so he’ll never know. “And… did Koki say if he’ll call again or that should I call him?” he looked up at Jin, slightly worried.
“He’ll call again.” Jin assured the younger with a smile. “Leaving this aside,” he then suddenly changed the subject, not wanting to be taking about Koki immediately after he had had a discussion with the said man, “how are you feeling?” he asked, looking concerned. “You don’t have a fever fortunately.” Jin added as he checked yet again Kazuya’s temperature to be sure.
Kazuya smiled a bit. He knew that he’ll be waiting for Koki’s call anxiously. “Apparently.” He said to Jin’s statement and sighed a bit. “But I don’t think I can go hiking or something.” He then joked with a soft chuckle. “I’ll stay in bed for a little more.”
“Let’s try and sleep for a little more, okay?” Jin proposed as he gently pulled back Kazuya in bed, hugging the younger at his chest and closing his eyes with a happy smile dancing on his lips.
If I wanted to sleep, I would have slept a long time ago, Kazuya thought bitterly, but he didn’t have the strength to say it to Jin so he simply conformed and cuddled into Jin’s arms, thinking over and over about what he’ll do about this relationship of his with Jin. Because he hadn’t let go of the idea of trying to make Jin a better person.
And he’ll succeed.
*
Later in the day, when both of them were fully awaken and talking to each other, Koki called again, this time Kazuya being the one who answered.
“Yes?” The younger said and he hoped that the eagerness he felt wasn’t present in his voice too.
“Hey.” Koki replied and there was a softness in his tone that had Kazuya’s heart clench painfully. After all this time… Koki was still there for him. “Can you talk?” he asked and Kazuya looked at Jin who apparently looked relaxed, though it was obvious he was listening to his lover’s conversation. This had the younger’s lips curl up a little.
“Sure.” He answered after a few silent moments and when he heard a long sigh at the other side of the tone, he couldn’t help but to fully smile. “Thanks, Koki.” Kazuya said and there was a fondness in his voice, deep and always present when talking to his friend.
“What for?” Koki asked, a bit baffled by the sudden gratitude.
“For being with me.” Kazuya replied, amused by the other. “For still being with me.” He added, wanting to be more precise.
“I told you before, didn’t I? Yesterday too… I told you that I’ll be by your side no matter what happens. So you needn’t to thank me for doing what I already said I’ll do.” Koki quickly retorted, making Kazuya laugh a little.
“Sorry.” The younger said and there was suddenly silence between them.
“I’m glad you can still laugh. It makes me really happy.” Koki said with a sigh. “Are you alone? Can I come over?” he then asked and for a moment Kazuya looked nervously at Jin before concentrating on his friend.
“I’m not, but you can come anytime you want.” The younger said, feeling happy that he could see Koki soon even if Jin was still there. Yet in a way he hoped to make Jin leave them alone.
“Ugh.” Koki made a disagreeing sound before sighing again. “Then I’ll come over in two hours. Maybe he’ll be gone by then.” He added and made Kazuya frown a bit.
“It’s okay. This time it’s okay.” The boy assured his friend, though even he doubted this. But Kazuya really hoped that his revealed feelings from last night had changed Jin a little in the least. After all, the older did say that he was okay with him meeting Koki, no? “I’ll be waiting then.” Kazuya added and after exchanging their goodbyes and promises to see and talk to each other later, he hung up.
The younger bit on his lower lip as he put the phone on the desk and looked at Jin. “Koki’s coming over in two hours.” He said with a light voice, hopping that the other won’t turn ballistic again.
“Hmm…” Jin said as he flopped on the bed and stretched his body with a tired yawn. “And I guess that you’d prefer if I leave, right?” he asked, wondering what kind of answer will Kazuya give. If he’ll deny, it would be a lie. If he’ll admit, Jin would get mad. And if he’ll be evading the truth, Jin would be furious.
Kazuya chuckled a little. “It would be great to talk with Koki alone, but I don’t want you to get any weird ideas, so if you want to stay or leave, it’s your choice.” He replied and lied on top of Jin, like a cat would do. “Both of you are important to me and I would like you to get along…” he then sighed, letting his head rest on Jin’s chest.
The older seemed to think a bit about Kazuya’s answer while running his fingers through his lover’s hair. “We’d just have to stop from hating each other and then everything would be perfect.” He chuckled as his hand kept brushing through Kazuya’s hair, caressing his ear and gently touching his cheeks from time to time. “I’m sorry, I’d really want to make this work, but…” Jin added, not finishing his sentence as the rest was already obvious.
Kazuya enjoyed the feeling of Jin’s fingers in his hair and on his face and he hummed a little in the touches. “I’ll talk with him about this…” he said and rose a little to look at Jin. “Though it’s you that had problems with him from the beginning.” Kazuya accused as he poked Jin in the cheek. “And if you really want to get along with Koki, you need to accept his clinginess to me. He likes to jump and cuddle me every time he sees me…” the younger trailed his words as well as his finger on Jin’s face, now tracing a line on his jaw.
“But that’s my right!” Jin whined and pouted, even if a little smirk was starting to form on his lips as the older moved his hand and copied Kazuya’s moves, circling with his finger the boy’s chin and slowly climbing down on his neck only to go up again then repeat the movement along with Kazuya’s index finger. “I want to be the only one to cuddle you and touch you like this.” He confessed, now with a slight accusing tone, thinking that he wouldn’t have had any problems if that guy had backed away from Jin’s property.
Kazuya laughed softly and lifted himself on Jin a bit more, just enough to give him better access to peck the older one’s lips. “Koki doesn’t touch me with your intentions.” Kazuya replied with a smirk dancing on his lips. “He is innocent, while you…” the younger sighed and let his head down, now pressing his lips on Jin’s neck where he could feel the older one’s pulse going hectic.
“While I’m the devil?” Jin asked with a gasp, tilting his head on one side to give the younger one more space. Only now he remembered what had made him go crazy over the past few weeks and the lack of Kazuya was starting again to make its presence in his groin, making Jin already aroused at the images of pleasure he could be having right now. He glanced at Kazuya but didn’t make any attempt to touch him, letting his hands fall limp on each side of them but still moving softly his body to let the boy know that he wanted more and that he wanted to let himself enjoy the sensation of Kazuya playing with him.
And Kazuya got the message as a smirk made it across his lips, before his mouth tasted more of Jin’s skin. A kiss here, another there and his teeth were gently grazing along his neck, his tongue quickly soothing it. “Oh, yes… you are more than a devil.” Kazuya whispered as he climbed to Jin’s ear, nibbling on the older one’s ear lob while his hands slipped between their bodies and under Jin’s clothes. “And now I assume you’re a hungry devil.” The younger breathed some more as he straightened himself, now looking at Jin from above, his hands never stopping the teasing over the burning skin and hardened nipples. Their crotches were pressed against each other and Kazuya was more than aware of Jin’s arousal as he began to sway his hips, creating more friction between them. “Would you like a little angel?” he purred, licking his lips and making indecent sounds in the same time.
Jin snorted. “And you’re the little angel?” he asked while rolling his eyes, though a little gasp escaped his lips when Kazuya moved again. He was suddenly feeling hot and the burning desire of having the boy was eating him inside but Jin tried to control himself as he took a deep breath and looked at Kazuya, a smirk decorating his lips. “I would say that you’re more like a hungry wolf and I’m more than willing to be your victim.” He said with an innocent tone, though the expression from his eyes said something else.
Kazuya laughed low and throaty. “Oh, really?” he said and grinded his body into Jin’s, making the older feel him more. He leaned over Jin again, his lips hovering above his lover’s, but not really touching or kissing them. “Shall I eat right now or shall I torture you into giving yourself willingly?” he breathed the words as his hands were making their way down to where their bodies met, the teasing fingers slowly sliding under the pants. “I think I prefer to torture you.” Kazuya decided and caught Jin’s chin between his lips, licking it slowly before going down, leaving hot and wet traces behind.
“I think I prefer you to let me fuck you.” Jin breathed heavily, feeling his heart beating faster because of Kazuya’s touches and the frustration of not having more. He still didn’t move, even if it was becoming harder and harder not to, and just grinded his hips into Kazuya’s, searching for more friction with a pitiful whimper. He moved his head, giving the boy more space and showing him that he was willing to let Kazuya be the master for the time being, as a grin made way to his lips. “Though I thought you’d hurry up more. Considering…” he trailed off, letting his sentence unfinished as he closed his eyes and fisted the sheets.
Considering that Koki might come and see them like this.
Kazuya bit onto Jin’s neck hard, mixing pleasure with pain as he lifted Jin’s shirt, his hands leaving their grinding crotches. “Then… shall we cut the talk and get down to real business?” Kazuya asked with a husky voice, getting rid of Jin’s shirt and his in the same time. As he leaned again over the older one, feeling his skin touching his, feeling his bareness meeting Jin, Kazuya couldn’t help but to moan and with unyielding passion, he grabbed Jin’s chin and made him look at him. There was a wild gleam in his brown eyes and a sadistic smile on his lips. “I missed you.” Kazuya breathed before he crushed their mouths together, his hand still clasped on Jin’s jaw, not letting him direct the kiss.
Jin answered to him, letting himself be dominated by Kazuya and not even trying to take the control, just yielding himself to the boy’s movements and touches. He had missed this too and he could never express how much he had wanted to feel the younger like this again, to feel his passion overflowing and his desire piercing into him. He liked this Kazuya, the one that wanted everything and Jin felt obliged to submit himself to him, to give him the control he wanted and to show him that he could do whatever he wanted with him. It was exciting, even more when Jin was boiling on the inside and waiting for the moment when he’ll explode and change completely.
He didn’t need much longer and in the next second, Jin rolled them over and topped Kazuya, straddling the boy and looking from above at him. He smirked as he leaned over him and licked his lips, Kazuya’s hands secured into his and trapped there, Jin letting only his body move and beg for more.
“I missed you too.” Jin said with a husky voice, nibbling on the younger’s lips and sucking them.
Kazuya smiled and this time it was a gentle one, different from the ones he had up till now. Though it didn’t last long and it turned into a smirk as Kazuya arched under Jin, making him feel his yearning. “I know.” He whispered and passed his tongue over Jin’s upper lip. He couldn’t do much now that he was trapped under the other one and his hands weren’t free to roam and ask for more. “I want you… make me yours again.” Kazuya breathed as his eyes bore into Jin’s, as his hands gripped Jin’s tighter and as his body moved teasingly under his lover’s one.
And Jin just did that.
*
His heart was pounding fast as he walked down the alley that took him to his friend’s apartment. The day before had been a hectic one and although he would have preferred going after Kazuya as soon as that video had been showed in the school’s cafeteria, something had held him back. Maybe his own shock, his own disgust and betrayal, but he hadn’t gone after Kazuya as he would have usually done. Yet, after the day had passed, despite Maru’s and Junno’s disapproving words, he had still chosen to call Kazuya and see if he was okay.
No matter what he had done or was doing, Koki still cared about him, still wanted him to be safe. So even if Jin was going to be there, he was still going to see Kazuya and talk with him, telling him that for him, he hadn’t changed and what he had done didn’t change anything in their friendship. Koki believed that what they had was stronger than some mistakes. And as long as Kazuya understood that he had done wrong and he was repenting, then nothing else mattered - he was still the cute and perfectionist guy Koki had met in their first year of college.
With such thoughts running through his head and with his heart set, he was now standing in front of Kazuya’s apartment, ringing the bell and waiting for the other one to come and open the door. Too bad that things weren’t always going the way Koki wanted and when the door finally opened, in its frame stood proudly and coldly the last person he would have liked to see - Akanishi Jin.
The older one looked at Koki with an impassive expression, seeming to be rather calm and empty of any feeling as he stood aside to let the other one come in. “You’re earlier than expected.” He just commented as he watched Koki coming inside the house.
“Maybe.” Koki commented with a dry tone, having a slight hunch of what might have happened before his arrival. After all, it wasn’t much of a guess seeing that Jin was dressed with only a pair of pants and looked like he had had the best sex of his life. “Where’s Kazuya?” He asked, not going further as he wasn’t keen on witnessing… well, something he knew Kazuya wanted to keep private.
“In the bedroom, he’ll be right out.” Jin replied with a sly smirk as he signaled Koki to follow him and led him to the kitchen. Once there, he looked for his packet of cigarettes and lighted one out, puffing out the air and sighing happily. “Convinced yet that I have no intention of keeping Kazuya away from you?” Jin asked with a light tone and a slightly teasing expression as he took a seat at the table, his eyes searching for Koki’s.
The man scoffed. “No.” Koki replied nonchalantly, looking straight at Jin to show his distrust. “I’m still waiting for the day when you’d try to push me away just like you did with Ueda and the rest.” He added, his gaze turning slightly fierce as he thought that Kazuya had lost everything because he had gotten involved with someone like Jin. This man was nothing but bad luck to the younger one. “But I won’t leave, no matter what you do.” Koki said defiantly, his stubbornness resounding through his calm words.
Jin shrugged nonchalantly, like he didn’t care at all about Koki’s threats. “It’s not like I want you to leave.” He confessed, thinking that this wouldn’t be a problem for him at all, but he had decided to give Kazuya some freedom and to trust him in this matter. After all, the boy loved him, he had said so himself, and Jin wanted to believe in those words more than anything. “And if they were his true friends, they would have stayed like you did.” He pointed out with a thoughtful expression, even if friends wasn’t exactly the term Jin might describe the relationship Koki wanted to have with Kazuya. “Or am I wrong?” he then asked, his lips curling up again into that annoying and superior smile.
Koki pursed his lips in displeasure. No matter how much he would have liked to tell differently to Jin, he had gotten to the same conclusion like Jin - what Kazuya had with the other three from their group hadn’t been real friendship, but merely companionship. Only he had gotten close enough to Kazuya to see a glimpse of his true colors and not distance himself because of this. “Not everyone knows Kazuya’s still Kazuya despite his mistakes.” Koki chose to answer, not giving a proper yes or no to Jin. "Like you, they believed in something they wanted Kazuya to be."
Jin laughed, seemingly amused by Koki’s answer. “And what do I want him to be?” he wanted to know, standing up as he put out his cigar and getting closer to the other one, the smirk showing clearly that he was mocking the younger and didn’t actually expect his answer to be the truth.
“Definitely not your lover.” Koki replied defiantly, straightening his body as he felt slightly defensive at Jin’s approaching. “Something you can have every time, something that you can fuck whenever you want. Something that doesn’t refuse you and wants a life for himself.” He tilted his head in a mocking way. “That’s why you took him everything, leaving him with only you and me.”
Jin laughed, now clearly not being able to hold himself back. “So you think that I can have Kazuya anytime?” he asked, shaking his head as he was enjoying the joke Koki had just made. If he could have had Kazuya anytime, then all of this wouldn’t have been necessary, then Kazuya wouldn’t had let himself be kissed by that bitch, he wouldn’t have kissed Ueda either and wouldn’t have made it impossible all the time for Jin to be with him by running from his side - though, truthfully, always coming back into his arms. “I love Kazuya precisely because I can’t have him.” Jin confessed, now looking again into Koki’s eyes and taking one more step, his aura threatening and slightly dangerous. “I want to be with him exactly because I know that he will accept me only if he loves me too and not because he’s afraid of me.” He added and his eyes narrowed a little as he realized what he had just said.
“So, he loves you, huh?” Koki asked him with an ironic tone. “For how long? You’re destructive for him; with you, he won’t have a chance to a proper life. Because you’ll constantly destroy his hopes.” He continued, knowing just how much college had meant for Kazuya and seeing how Jin had taken it without remorse. And this was one thing he couldn’t understand about Kazuya either - why accept the one person who destroyed your future? What was there to be cherished?
Jin’s eyes darkened at Koki’s words, feeling suddenly enraged and furious and wanting to beat the hell out of him for saying such things and making him distrust Kazuya. “You’re a nobody in Kazuya’s life.” He said instead, forcing himself to keep himself in control and not overreact - more importantly, not when the younger one was so close. “You don’t have a say into what we do, whom he loves or if I destroy his life with my actions or not.” He stated, his tone a little forceful as if he was ordering something and not just speaking about it. “As long as he has me, his life won’t be destroyed.” Jin added, fisting his palms and trying not to think too much of Koki’s words.
Kazuya wouldn’t leave him, would be?
It was Koki’s turn to laugh. “Precisely because he has you, his life will be destroyed.” He pointed out, his eyes twinkling amused upon seeing Jin trying to restrain himself, not to snap at him. Despite their last rough meeting, Koki wasn’t afraid of him. He didn’t know why, but he felt no fear towards Jin - just repulse and pity. “You don’t deserve him.” Koki said with a grimly smile and before Jin could have the chance to say something back to him, the door of the kitchen opened and there stood Kazuya looking fresh and with a certain glow. Koki felt so stupid in that moment.
Jin gritted his teeth as he heard the door opening, glancing at Kazuya and cursing in his mind. The picture sure wasn’t a beautiful one, with him ready to jump on Koki and beat him senseless, but he had no way to stop himself from looking like that and, to be honest, he didn’t want to lie to his lover about this. That was why he didn’t say anything and just put some distance between him and Koki, locking his eyes with Kazuya’s for a few moments before dashing out of the room.
Kazuya looked confused at this sudden action, not knowing what had gotten into his lover. “What happened?” He asked in a small voice and was ready to go after Jin if not for Koki’s hand stopping him. He turned to look at his friend and couldn’t help but to feel happy that the other one was there for him.
“Leave him.” Koki said on a grave tone, making Kazuya blink surprised. Somehow, his friend’s words implied something else and he had the vague idea he knew what.
“What happened, Koki?” He asked with a sigh, deciding to listen to him for now and let Jin calm down on his own. “Did you fight with Jin again?” Kazuya inquired further seeing that Koki kept his silence and just stared at him.
“I just told him the truth and like I knew already, he doesn’t know how to accept it.” Koki replied, making Kazuya sigh some more. “Why are you still with him, Kazuya?” He asked, clutching his hands on the other one’s arms. “He’s destroying you, Kame!”
Kazuya shook his head. “It doesn’t matter.” He replied and looked at Koki with a slight smile. “He’s destructive, yes, but not only to me, but to himself too.” He continued and took a deep breath. “He needs me.” Kazuya voiced out and he could see how Koki felt disappointed. His arms were free from his grasp and he was afraid that he might lose Koki. But he was here, no?
“What do you need, Kazuya?” Koki asked instead, a tinge of despair in his voice. “Have you thought of your needs? Is it really that important to lose everything just for the sake of one person? A person that doesn’t even treat you right?” He continued, knowing that he was right and that Kazuya must’ve thought the same at some point.
The younger one looked at him with a troubled expression. “It’s not like that, Koki. I mean, it is, but in the same time it isn’t.” He said, ruffling his hair in a confused manner as if he was lost and he didn’t know where to go. “Jin is not a bad person, he had just grown in bad circumstances. Just like me.” He looked at his friend, wanting him to understand Jin the same way he had understood him.
“He’s nothing like you.” Koki stated on a dead-serious tone. “You are kind, gentle and good at everything you do.” He ruffled Kazuya’s hair too, more like styling it a little. “You wouldn’t hurt the ones you care about.” He smiled at the other one, wanting him to see himself in a good light and not in a bad light like Jin had made him believe he was.
But Kazuya couldn’t agree with Koki because he had hurt the ones he cared about - he had hurt Ueda, Maru, Junno and Koki with his lies and double life and he had hurt Jin for real. He had done harm to those he had claimed to love, so he was no better than Jin. They suited each other, of this Kazuya was sure.
“He’s also totally different from the one you know.” Jin suddenly interfered, stopping in the door’s frame and locking eyes with Koki for a second before glancing at Kazuya and continuing, not wanting to be given a response which would surely lead to an argument - “I’m going to the store, do you need anything?” he asked, clearly wanting to leave just to leave them alone and not get mad any further.
Kazuya looked at him still confused, but he shook his head in denial. With such a question coming from Jin, they could almost pass as a normal couple, but all three of them knew that this was far from normal. “Jin.” He called out to his lover just when he was about to turn away and leave. “Thanks.” Kazuya said and smiled brightly at the other one, wanting him to not be this gloomy because of Koki.
Jin smiled back and bit his lips before making one daring move - getting closer to Kazuya and kissing him in front of Koki. He didn’t know what the younger one might think of this, but he wanted to know and he wanted to be sure that Kazuya won’t reject him if he were to leave him alone with Koki - who was definitely against their relationship. He wanted to know if things would remain the same or if he was really destroying Kazuya’s life as his friend had said and if he will end up being left behind.
Although slightly surprised by this action, Kazuya smiled in their kiss and drew Jin closer, feeling his lover sort of insecure. He lifted his arms and locked them around Jin’s neck, letting the other kiss him, dominate him though not too much, because Jin was capable of eating him whole in front of Koki and this was the last thing he wanted his friend to see - another sex scene with him.
They parted after a few moments and Jin started giggling against Kazuya’s mouth, obviously happy and feeling like nothing could ruin his good mood in that moment. He pecked his lips a few more times before detaching himself from the younger one and flashing him a smile as he headed once more to the door. “I’ll buy some ice cream when I come back.” He announced with a wink at Kazuya and a smile at Koki, feeling butterfly in his stomach and acting like a fool in love.
