I have never been to
Hawaii. I'd certainly like to go. There are all sorts of mountains and pretty scenery and beaches and all that kind of thing, but alas this doesn't make it more likely that I'll be there any time soon.
Since I don't have anything else useful to write about Hawaii, let me tell you an old and not terribly funny joke.
A newlywed couple is on their way to their honeymoon in Hawaii. On the flight, they have an argument about how Hawaii is pronounced. The wife thinks it should be pronounced "Havaii" and the husband is convinced it should be pronounced "Hawaii." After much arguing, they decide they will ask the first person they see in Hawaii how to pronounce it.
When they land, they catch a taxi, which is being driven by an elderly man. The husband asks the driver "can you tell me how to pronounce the name of this state?"
"Certainly," says the driver. It is pronounced "Havaii."
The wife glances triumphantly at her husband and tells the drive "Thank you."
"You're velcome."
Sorry folks, that's all I've got today.
