#447 - fancifull - Giant Panda

I considered all the options I was given but I think I really knew immediately that I would end up choosing the giant panda. The other choices were all quite lovely, but my lifelong love of the panda instantly drew me to this choice, and in researching the other animals, I kept finding little things where I'd go "oh that's not like me at all" but that didn't really happen when researching the panda!

Their physical appearance was noted by moonquail as being similar to me, though I wouldn't have even picked up on it! Their black and white coloring mimics the coloration of my dark brown hair and eyes against my really pale skin.

In the wild, pandas roam around eating all day in their snowy and rocky habitat. I may be a Hufflepuff, but I am a particularly lazy one. If I could spend every day hanging out and eating like the panda, I would, and I have certainly spent my fair share of days doing just that. Pandas actively try to exert the least amount of energy possible in their day to day lived. In their case, it's because they have a low nutrition diet, but it also applies to me. I'll do things correctly, but I'll definitely always look for the easiest way and take a short cut if I can. In my application I said that I love snow and so the panda's cold and sometimes snowy habitat would be perfect for me and one that I'd really enjoy living in. The feeling of walking and playing in freshly fallen snow is one of my favorites.

Pandas are also really solitary creatures over all. They all keep to their own territory and generally only hang out in groups for small amounts of time during the year. Even in captivity they are kept separate a lot of the time. That personality trait is a lot like me as well. I love my friends and when I am around people, I'm usually having a good time. If given the choice between staying in with my computer and some movies or a book and going out every night with my friends, I'm probably going to pick staying in most, but not all!, of the time. The giant pandas are also unique among bears in that they have a thumb. I think that this would make them really resourceful in some ways, because while they can of course use it to grip their bamboo shoots, it could also be really versatile. I'd like to think that I could be seen in the same way - I can adapt to something to fit the circumstances as necessary. In general pandas temperament goes along quite well with mine! They are bears so they are capable of being quite fierce and protective, especially over their young. But despite the scary vibe certain other types of bears can definitely give off, pandas are the opposite. They are friendly, playful, docile. That fits me more than an aggressive kind of bear, or any type of animal. Loyalty is important to me, so as an animagus I think I would have a definite protective side, but not go out of my way to be too fierce. I like to be optimistic about things and I think the panda's playful and cuddly nature flows with that part of me really well!

Overall I really think that the giant panda is my ideal animagus!

#448 - rianbowpuzzle - Freshwater Crocodile

Okay, so I've been racking my brain for a couple of days, going back and forth between the North American Raccoon and the Freshwater Crocodile like crazy. I even had half the essay typed up for the raccoon before deleting everything due to my indecision.

But as of right now, I have made my decision (and I want to post it before my doubts come back or I'll never be able to make up my mind!!). The raccoon was an adorable choice and I was this close to picking it. It even looked like me with my black thick rimmed glasses! But I decided the crocodile is an animal I really love and admire and it would be great to have it as my animagus form. Like fancifull said, it's my chance to add to the family of reptiles in this community.

Badassery aside, I researched a bit about this particular crocodile and found that we actually have many things in common. They are very adaptable, just like me. They usually live in freshwater, but have no problem adapting to saltwater when the situation asks for it. I am the same. I can step out of my comfort zone if I have to and still do a good job. They also hunt by ambush and not waste their energy on chasing their prey around. That's pretty much what I do when I have an assignment to finish.

Crocodiles in general are known for their aggressiveness, which I am not. But the Freshwater crocodile is aggressive only when it is attacked, so it is an exception to the rule, making them a good fit for me. I also really like their ability to sneak around unnoticed, especially in the water. I love how they can sit in the water, only with their eyes and nostrils out, waiting for their prey to fall straight into their grasp. They're quick and agile even if they seem slow and heavy and that's one of my preferences for my form. And I absolutely love lazing around in the sun, which all reptiles do to get warm. That's one of my favorite things about them.

All things said, I'd love to be a cuddly, friendly (and badass) Freshwater Crocodile and join the ranks of the awesome reptiles here.

#449 - nevillevalorum - Tawny Owl

I was given four options for an Animagus form: the European Magpie, Yellow-Crowned Night Heron, Coastal Forest Merlin, and Tawny Owl. All of these birds are magnificent and wonderful. Their characteristics and symbolism are fascinating and I wish I didn't have to choose! However, I did choose, and I chose the Tawny Owl.

Now, I typically choose animals and animal representations based on three criteria:

1) Affinity/Kinship
2) Characteristics/Abilities/Behavior
3) Symbolism

Affinity/Kinship

I've always had an affinity for owls. I've always seen them as so mysterious and wise. In nearly every single cartoon or film I've seen, I always fall in love with the owl characters. Take Archimedes from Disney's Sword in the Stone, Owl from Winnie the Pooh, the Great Owl from The Secret of Nimh, and of course the owls from Harry Potter. I've always found their calls as soothing. I could listen to an owl hoot for hours if I had the chance. Then of course I've always found them beautiful, each and every species of Owl. Admittedly, my favourite species is the Barn Owl, but after researching the Tawny Owl, I've found I've grown very fond of them.

Characteristics/Abilities/Behavior

The Tawny Owl is a small to medium sized bird of prey that is the most widespread owl in Europe and is the most of common bird of prey found in the UK. The Tawny Owl is a nocturnal bird of prey, that takes advantage of their fantastic night vision to quickly catch their prey. Tawny Owl is known to mate for life although this is not always the case. Tawny Owls inhabits dense forest and woodland where it cannot be disturbed resting during the day. It is its asymmetrically placed ears that are key to its hunting because they give the Tawny Owl excellent directional hearing. The Tawny Owl flies with long glides on rounded wings, less undulating and with fewer wing-beats than other Eurasian owls, and typically at a greater height. As with most owls, its flight is silent because of its feathers' soft, furry upper surfaces and a fringe on the leading edge of the outer primaries. Its size, squat shape and broad wings distinguish it from other owls found within its range; Great Grey, Eagle and Ural Owls are similar in shape, but much larger.

Now, I stated in my app that I wanted my size to be medium and I also stated that I had a desire to use my form for spying. The Tawny Owl fits those needs: it's a medium sized bird and is the most common bird. In spying the trick is not to stand out in any way. The fact that this is a common bird won't get any second glances if I were hanging around where others might be talking in the forest or wherever. I also indicated I wanted keen vision and the excellent night vision of this owl satisfies that requirement. This owl has amazing hearing which is most excellent considering my own is patchy at best. I had a really bad case of pneumonia when I was young and it screwed with my sense of smell, taste, and hearing. So at least in owl form, I can have keen hearing once again. This owl inhabits forests and woodlands, and I've always had a little dream where I could have a cottage in a pleasant forest. The Tawny Owl flies at greater height (definitely love this, as it works with my way of seeing the bigger picture) and it's flight is silent (perfect for stealth). It mates for life, which is good, because as solitary as I am, I do want someone to share my life with at some point. Yet again, the owl is known for it's small size, which is reflective of my own stature. I'm small and slight- a little waif.

Symbolism

Magic, Omens, Wisdom

The owl is the symbol of the feminine, the moon and the night. The owl is the bird of magic and darkness, of prophecy and wisdom. The owl is associated with Athena.

An owl totem gives you the power to extract secrets. Meditate on the owl and things will be revealed. Listen to its voice inside of you. You will hear not what is being said by others, but what is hidden. You can detect subtleties of voice that others cannot. People cannot deceive a person who has an owl totem.

Owl people can see into the darkness of others souls. Most owl people are clairvoyant because of this ability. It can be very scary at times. Learn to trust your instincts about people. Let your owl totem guide you.

Owl's Wisdom Includes:

- Stealth ★ (I've learned to cultivate this in recent years to survive in my familial arrangement)
- Secrecy ★ (I am the soul of discretion, and I keep many many secrets, mine own included)
- Silent and swift movement (could also refer to mental swiftness and silence in meditation) ★
- Seeing behind masks ★ (I've always been able to read people well and cut to the heart of the matter)
- Keen sight ★ (I can usually see things from multiple perspectives and I can usually be counted upon to remain objective)
- Messenger of secrets and omens ★
- Shape-shifting (chameleon-like adaptability) ★
- Link between the dark, unseen world and the world of light (I live in both dark and light) ★
- Comfort with shadow self ★ (I know my other side, understanding it, accept it, and appreciate it)
- Moon magick (I do practice natural magic, and most of it is done at night) ★
- Freedom ★★★★ (we all know I want this more than anything)

The Tawny Owl is an adaptable hunter, brave and bold. As an animal familiar the Tawny Owl offers ingenuity, courage, and resilience.

I'm very good at using my brain. I love to think and ask questions. I will never take anything at face value. I am inquisitive and not about to hide that. I also love to observe others and I am fairly good at reading people, their expressions and body language and thus interpret what they may be thinking or what they may be feeling. Ever since high-school I've been that friend- you know, the amazing listener, the wise one, the one you go to with all your problems for advice or perspective. Even when I don't have the answers, I do my best to puzzle it out with you. I'm very good at getting to the heart of any matter. I can boil it down to essentials and since I look at everything objectively, I'm able to deconstruct and reassemble problems/situations and offer different perspectives and options.

I'm a truth seeker. I am not afraid of the truth and will always ask questions until I found out why something happened, whether or not I am responsible, what I could have done, etc. I believe this is essential, even if the truth is painful, how else am I to grow and learn from the experiences and mistakes?

With people I actually care about (ie: friends and lovers) I will be honest to the point of pain. I don't believe in sugar-coating or bullshit. If I come to the conclusion that you're doing something stupid or harmful, or if you're too reliant on societal mores/tradition/parental influences in making decisions, I'll call you on it. I believe in treating others as you want to be treated, and therefore, since I despise being lied to and misled, I will be thoroughly truthful with you.

I am highly adaptable. I'm usually able to tailor my approach to the different people I meet. What's more, with all my misfortunes (and there's been PLENTY) I've found I am very resilient. I've also developed my own brand of ingenuity- of being clever and resourceful and making my own way around the obstacles in my path. I'm a water sign and when trapped, water makes its own way. Also, in coming out of my darkness and battling my demons, I've become stronger, more brave and bold, and I've seen the courage I've cultivated and it makes me so very very very proud.

When it comes down to it, the Tawny Owl is the best form for me!

#450 - sickle_girl - Keeshond

I have chosen the Keeshond form.
For a start, I have always felt connected with dogs. When I play with them I like being in my four legs as well, and be “one of them,”
As one of my voter pointed, my personality matches the Keeshond behavior quite well. Just like the Keeshond I tend to be very playful (I love games for the sake of playing, but I don’t like competing so much). I am also a quick learner, mostly because when I am interested in something I usually get fascinated by it so I WANT to learn and luckily pick it up fast. Just like my animagus form of choice I am eager to please as well as obedient. I love making people happy and making them smile - I am usually willing to step in if that avoids confrontation-. “Keeshonds make an excellent obedience dog” That can be true about me, too. You see,I feel safe by following the rules, I believe that they are there to avoid chaos and that more people should follow it.
Other aspect I can relate to is that “They love children and are excellent family dogs, preferring to be close to their humans whenever possible”. I love my family and I love being with them.
“The breed has a tendency to become especially clingy towards their owners” that is, unfortunately true about myself, too. Since I can be very shy I tend to become a bit clingy of the person I feel good around with.
Other reason why I choose this animal, it is their physical demeanor (they are medium-sized dogs) and their beautiful coat. You see, I love cold weather and that gorgeous fur would become very handy.

All in all,my main reason are our similar temperament (I can still be like an eagger puppy), the appearance (I have chosen a not outstanding colouring since I myself am quite plain) and the coat (I love winter ♥)

Hope it will be approved (alreading wagging my tail)

#451 - ppyajunebug - Indian Elephant

I think my animagus form is an Indian elephant. The Indian elephant represents the most important sides of my personality. My relationships with others are the most important thing in the world to me. This is reflected in the close-knit family groups that Indian elephants form. Even when packs split up, they still recall which groups were started by family members and which weren’t. They also have been observed taking great care with their young and elderly and mourning their dead. I feel a great connection with animals that are so involved in the lives of their families and that show such care with them.
The Indian elephant is also highly intelligent. My intellectual side is also very important to me; I spend much of my time in class and doing research, so using my brain is central to my everyday life. The Indian elephant is highly intelligent, probably on the level of dolphins and non-human primates. Their cerebral cortex is highly folded, which is generally correlated with increased intelligence. They have also been observed using tools, another sign of high intelligence. The elephant is also associated with memory, which I relate with particularly since my research is in the memory.
Finally, the Indian elephant lives in a warmer, drier climate which I enjoy. They are also very earthy animals, and I have always felt more connected to the earth than other elements. All in all, I think that the Indian elephant is the perfect animagus for me. It reflects my inner self and I truly feel that it is the right animal to represent who I am.

#452 - lachry_aoi - Siberian Cat

For my animagus form, I chose the Siberian Cat. Upon reading the description given for the animal, I found myself in it in an instant. Siberian cats are said to be dog-like in nature because of their loyalty, and I would say that is the first thing that I find myself in same position as with this cat. The connection was instant so I thought this would be my perfect animagus form. I myself have always been a loyal person to my family and friends, having that in common with my animagus is a big plus on my part. By far a cat-lover myself, finding a match of cats with loyalty such as the Siberian Cat is a rare one for me, because I’ve always known dogs are more loyal. Furthermore, Siberian cats are fascinated by water, which is another unique characteristic because cats do tend not to like water, so I like how it connects with my preference for water. They are energetic and smart, much like how I am at times, and I like how this cat is good with dogs, because even if I love cats, I also have a soft spot on dogs.

Being a cat would suit me because I tend to be with myself more, and cats are like that, keeping more to themselves, and liking to rest and laze around, the way I prefer at times. And I actually prefer cats because they are cuddly, like the way I’m cuddly because I’m chubby. And I like the way cats cheer you up, the way I also would like to cheer up others. Cats provide me also with comfort, and I really prefer that for an animal. I would’ve liked a stronger animal, but I really prefer this animal now as my animagus form, seeing as the connection seems really strong between us, a cat would be much more enough. I’d like to be a warm and friendly presence to others, the way cats are, and I guess that would help me a lot. The cat-lover side of me is now so very happy.

If I were to ask, it’s like I’m really made to be matched with the Siberian Cat, and I definitely would love and enjoy being a Siberian Cat~!

#454 - eggsnail - Meerkat

The moment I saw "Meerkat" as one of my choices, I knew I would pick it. I researched the other animals, of course, and made sure to list the pros and cons of all of them. But, I still felt like the Meerkat was the best choice. Meerkats are exceptionally social creatures, and while I am not overtly social, I am very family oriented, as are the Meerkats. My favorite thing about Meerkats, though, is that they like to let loose. Meerkats are spunky, playful animals who like to wrestle and play with one another. I love to be unabashedly silly and playful. To just let go for a while and not really care what it looks like from the outside. Of course, Meerkats are also quite intelligent and resourceful, which I like to think I am most of the time. They stand sentries outside of their burrows to keep an eye out for danger.

I also like that Meerkats have a system of babysitters, of all things! Adult Meerkats will "babysit" the young Meerkats, and if an alert of danger is sounded, they will gather the babies together and take them into the burrow for protection. If they can't get to the burrow, they will gather the babies into a group and lie on top of them. As a new mother, I can see myself risking my own life to save my daughter's and being fiercely protective of her.

From a physical perspective, the Meerkat is a medium-smallish sized animal, like I asked for. Small enough not to stand out too much, but large enough not to be overlooked. As a burrower, I'd have no problem hiding in small places, but would be large enough that I'd likely not sustain injury from being stepped on because someone didn't see me. Also, I totally asked for a cute animal, and I think Meerkats are adorable.

#456 - hanson_phreek - Chinese Water Dragon

I like to start with my gut. So I pulled up pictures of each of the choices first and let my heart/gut get a feel for them. I was immediately drawn to the Chinese water dragon, but I knew I needed to let each option have a chance. I did some research and eliminated the amazon river dolphin and the red-eared slider almost immediately. I contemplated the California Sea Lion because they are very social creatures, but in the end the Chinese Water Dragon just seemed like the better choice for me. The biggest reason is that I have always had a fondness for lizards. In fact, one of my nicknames growing up was Lizard. I'm always loved watching them and they seem to really like me.

Also, I'm a vegetarian and the Chinese water dragon is the animal that eats the least amount of meat, which is great in case I get stuck in my animal form for any length of time. And the biggest plus is that this lizard is an excellent swimmer. Water is my favorite element. I love the way it feels and I love to be in it. The Chinese water dragon, while living in trees, uses the water as a safe haven to hide from predators and is a wonderful swimmer. So in this form I would be great on land and in water, which is something that is really great in my eyes.

I love the idea of turning into a smaller animal. It would mean that I could easily hide from things and people that could hurt me or scare me that I can't hide from as a human. And having that LONG tail would be great for balance. I can be a bit clumsy but having a tail like the Chinese water dragon would save me a lot of trips and injuries from them. And having a pineal body (a small, round, shiny spot on the top of the head, between their eyes that helps many reptiles sense differences in light) would be really neat. It would let me view the world in a whole new way, which is a great thing.

#457 - facetiouss - Welsh Pony

I have a huge passion for horses. I admire their elegance, beauty, and grace. I chose the Welsh Pony because of my connection with horses. Even though ponies are short and I'm tall, ponies are super tough and hardy and I feel that I am the same way. Their movement is described as bold and fast, and I would consider myself a bold person, plus I would like my Animagus form to be fast. Welsh ponies are trustworthy with a good disposition, even temperament, and friendly character. Trust is very important to me and overall, I am even-tempered and friendly, just like the Welsh Pony. Even with a mostly even temperament, they can still be high spirited, and they're intelligent. Ponies are tough and hardy and easily adapt, much like myself. They have many uses, and I like that they're so versatile. Horses are herd animals, and I also like to be in a group of people. Welshes are also very loyal, a characteristic of me that is really important to me. I'm very loyal to my friends and will protect them and stand up for them. Horses come in chestnut, which is basically a redhead for them and as I am a redhead, that's also important to me. There's a saying of "Red mare, beware" as in beware of a chestnut female horse because they're known to have tempers and high personalities. I love red mares and definitely feel a connection with them. Therefore, I pick the Welsh Pony as my Animagus form.

#458 - darkgondolier - Belgian Shepherd

When I first looked at the choices I was given, the Belgian Shepherd immediately stood out. I looked up the all four choices and really tried to give them all an equal chance, but I couldn’t shake the initial pull I felt toward the Belgian Shepherd. To be honest, I was kind of thrilled to find a dog as one of my choices and I think the breed is a good fit. At first I was like, “I don’t know, this dog is very energetic and I’m very physically lazy, so is this really a fit?” But then I read about the breed’s constant motion and realized that I could actually relate because I fidget like all the time. Even when I’m sitting down, I’m usually tapping my foot, playing with my earrings, toying with some random thing I found lying near me, or doing something else besides sitting perfectly still. Also, it would probably be good for me to be more active.

Belgian Shepherds are often described as high maintenance dogs because they need to be challenged or kept busy and can get destructive if given nothing to do. Although I don’t get destructive or typically consider myself high maintenance, I’m much the same way. Leave me at home with little to do but lounge around? Fine for a day or two but then I get restless. I don’t do very well with boredom and I need to be challenged. Also, I consider myself a pretty intelligent person and I wanted a similarly intelligent animal. Belgian Shepherds are known for being highly intelligent, easy to train, and versatile. I pick things up pretty quickly and am talented at a wide range of subjects and activities. Socially, Belgian Shepherds are deeply attached to and protective of their families but also have a tendency to be shy or wary around strangers. They can be playful and fun, but are more often serious and observant. This describes me pretty well, I think. I love my family to death and my sister is probably the person I’m closest to in the world. However, my default mode around strangers and people I don’t know well is quiet, reserved, and occasionally nervous. I tend to be more of an observer and I pick up on a lot.

On a more superficial level, I wanted a versatile animal that was medium to small size. The Belgian Shepherd is a mid-sized breed and dogs in general are very versatile. Because they’re pretty common, you’re not limited to only being able to live in a particular area or attracting too much undue attention. Belgian Shepherds have the typical strong senses of dogs (which is something I requested) and they’re very graceful and agile, which is not a trait that I really possess as a human but is one that I would love to have. I picked the Laekenois variety out of the four varieties of coloring/coat type because I felt that its wiry coat was very similar to my naturally curly hair, which dries in something close to ringlets if allowed to air dry after being wet. I also like the contrast in that dogs are a rather common animal but the Laekenois is the rarest breed of Belgian Shepherd. I relate to this because although in many ways I’m pretty average, many people I know consider me a bit odd, so there’s a similar sort of mix going on.

To sum up and make this simple, I think I’m a Belgian Shepherd!

#459 - ashspark - Abyssinian Cat

Why My animagus form would be an Abyssinian cat.

I share some feline traits with cats (obviously), as I often walk on tiptoe for no reason, which gives me a cat-like walk. Abyssinians are explorers, they want to learn, and to see and to experince everything, as do I! They're pretty smart cats too, and if I dare say so, I'm pretty smart myself. Abyssinians have a very particular fur, involving a reddish base, and as a strawberry blonde, I can relate to that: I have dark read hair along with light red hair, dark blond hair and light blond hair in my mane. Strwberry blonde is a complex colour too!
Abyssinians need love and affection, as I do, yet at the same time they can find themselves needing their space. It's another thing I share with them. I need love in my life, but I also need to be able to step back and go in an hibernating like stage where I'm all alone with my thoughts, to be able to deal with the real world (and get lost in my mind).

Abyssinians have a notion of risk, they don't engage in dangerous behaviours of their own, they have self-protective instinct, as I do once again. Sure, a little danger is nice here and there, but I'm not gonna start bungee jumping anytime soon, for fear of being the odd jumper who died.
I like how abyssinians are active. If there's one thing I hate, it's being left without anything to do. Sure some procrastination can be cool for the soul, but I'm only happy when I'm doing something, whether it's thinking/imagining plotlines for novels, or helping out friends and family. Or you know, just when I'm playing the sims. It's not really procrastination if you do iit because you enjoy it, and not to kill time. So yeah, I'm pretty active too.
Lastly, Abyssininans have small paws. You cannot imagine how much I relate to that: I have some hands, but also ridiculously small feet. I think I'm like a 2.5 using US shoe size? (that's supposed to be a 35 in France). As a Result, I would certainly turn into an abyssinian if I got to be an animagus.

#460 - serendipity513 - Qinling Panda

I’m choosing the Qinling Panda for multiple reasons.
1)My Childhood I was thrilled when I saw the Qinling Panda come up as one of my options. I knew the Giant Panda had already been claimed and had resigned myself to having some other form. I’ve had a stuff animal panda bear since I was born (it was in my cradle as a baby), and it was my companion and confidant when I was a little girl. I’d take that panda everywhere I went. I still have it to this day, and get nervous if I ever don’t know where it is. Because of that stuffed animal I grew to have a very strong affection for pandas.
2) Habitat/Climate: The Qinling Panda lives in the mountains of China, which fulfills my wish to be in an earthly/mountainous environment. I went to high school in a mountainous area of the United States and I really enjoyed it. I enjoy hiking along nature trails, and as a Qinling Panda I’d do that daily in search of food. Furthermore, The Qinling mountains are home to a temperate forest, meaning the temperature would be moderate, neither too hot nor too cold, which is exactly what I like. I don’t function well in either temperature extreme and this would allow me to live comfortably.
3)Behavior Like all pandas, the Qinling Panda is mostly solitary, expect during mating season. This mostly mimics my own life, as I am usually alone or focused on my own thing, but occasionally I’ll venture out and be social.Panda females also raise their cubs by themselves, and while I have no wish to ever raise a child on my own, that behavior shows a level of resilience and self-reliance that I strive to have. It is also reported the pandas are very shy animals, and while I can be very outspoken once I’m comfortable with a situation, I am usually quite hesitant and shy when I first meet people or first encounter a new situation. However, pandas are also quite capable of defending themselves and their cubs, which I think also mimics me very well. I seem shy and vulnerable, but if messed with or if someone I love is being messed with, I have n problem taking action against it. Additionally, pandas spend a vast amount of time eating and sleeping and these are definitely two of my favorite things to do. :)
4)Appearance I wanted a form that would be considered “cute” and the Qinling Panda definitely fits that description. The Qinling Panda is smaller than the Giant Panda, making it even more adorable in my eyes. I adore pandas and think they are very “squishable”. I also think their coloring is similar to my own, as I have very pale skin but very dark hair and eyes. I also enjoy wearing “smokey” eye makeup, which could be compared to the black fur around the panda’s eyes (although I’ve never warn quite that much makeup).

#461 - noted - Blue-Eyed Cockatoo

All the choices given to me were a good representation of myself but the most relatable to me would be the Blue Eyed Cockatoo. The Blue Eye Cockatoo are a rare species of Cockatoo that is highly affectionate and headstrong, but intelligent at the same time. I really relate to the headstrong aspect of the bird, often with me it is my way or the high way much like the Cockatoo. After much research I found eery and similar qualities of me to the bird, the Cockatoo is loud in the wild and in captivity. I'm very loud and outgoing, often am the center of attention, and people are always telling me to lower the tone of my voice because I'm just naturally loud. It needs a lot of mental stimulation because of it's intelligence and when bored will chew anything that presents itself. When neglected the bird will pluck it's own feathers and self mutilate, this itself is one of the qualities that made the decision for me.

When I'm bored and unable to stimulate myself mentally, I've been known to chew my nails terribly and that seems to be a quality that the Cockatoo and myself greatly share. Again most notably.. when neglected it self mutilates and as a teenager I had some similar issues, something that made me feel quite akin to the bird. The birds are often vegetarians, sometimes eating worms, and that is also a quality that we share as I am a vegetarian myself. In captivity the bird is a bit high maintenance, needing constant attention and play, and I myself have been told sometimes that I can be high maintenance because I like to be remembered and like to spend time with those that love me. Lastly, I believe that our appearance is similar because I am extremely pale with bright green eyes that stand out against my skin … and I've sadly been told that I have a bit of a "bird" like quality to my nose.

In summation: I believe that the Blue Eyed Cockatoo is a perfect match for me and that it'd be the animagus form I'd take in the wizarding world.

#462 - pristineungift - Wolverine

I am... The Wolverine!

Yeah, I'm very excited I can legitimately type that, comic book geek that I am.

In the end I chose the Wolverine, firstly because it resonated with me in a way that the other choices didn't in a way I can't really explain. It just feels right. I was intellectually drawn to the hyena for several reasons, but the wolverine draws me on multiple levels.

Like the wolverine, I am physically very small. And yet, I am a law student specializing in criminal prosecution and domestic violence. I am told that I am quite fierce in the court room, surprisingly so, given that sometimes the bailiff makes me stand on a box instead of adjusting the microphone lower.

The wolverine is known for stealing prey from larger animals, and has been documented as killing things as large as polar bears. I have stolen verdicts from other attorneys in much the same way.

The wolverine also has family, but visits with them only rarely, not staying together long. This mimics my pattern with my own family, because having us all in a room together, is well... like a pack of wolverines, as the saying goes.

The wolverine is one of the smartest of the weasel family, and I pride myself on my intelligence, and am admittedly a bit weaseley.

In addition to that, I like how the animal looks, the ferocious reputation, and the legends and other symbolism associated with the animal.

#463 - singlemomsummer - Egyptian Mau

When I first saw my choices I was immediately drawn to the Egyptian Mau although the American Badger and Kit fox were also close in my opinion. Ultimately though, I am a cat person, and I would feel most content with a cat. It doesn’t hurt of course that this particular breed is one that I have longed to own for years but since I’m now married to a man who is extremely allergic to cats I know that it will never happen. So, the next best thing for me is to have a cat form. (Of course this is causing endless jokes between my husband and I, lol.) In particular, the Egyptian Mau is a cat that I have admired for years. It is beautiful, and aloof, yet loving as well. As soon as I opened up the wiki page for this breed I knew that it was what I wanted. The picture they have posted there is absolutely breathtaking and the cat’s eyes are amazing. I think that I share that with this breed as my husband has repeatedly said that my eyes are what first drew him to me. Then I went on to read more, and refresh my memory on the particulars. This cat is considered exceptionally intelligent which is one of the traits that I am most proud of. They are also known to have very musical voices with a wide range of sounds. I found this really fitting since I love to sing. It’s one of my great pleasures. The article also talks about the way that this breed tends to form close bonds with their caregivers and are very attentive and loving to them, but are very aggressive in defending themselves and their territories which I think describes me as well. Overall, everything in me just screamed YES when I saw this choice, so I could probably go on forever, but yes, this is the form for me!

#464 - vanmeeuwe - Arizona Jaguar

Before I get on to the essay part, I'd just like to thank everybody for giving me such thoughtful, beautiful choices.

When I saw my list of potential animals, the Mountain Gorilla and Arizona Jaguar immediately stuck out to me. This is a really tough call. I absolutely adored the gorilla as a choice -- this was my favorite book as a little girl, I used to own a gigantic gorilla plush as a child and I've always had a soft spot for the animals. And I'm a total sucker for the movie Tarzan. ♥
However, I think a gorilla would be better suited for me as a Patronus-- They make me smile, have a special place in my heart and are symbolic of safety, love and joy to me, but not necessarily something I think I would honestly be.

The Arizona Jaguar, on the other hand, feels more natural when I imagine an animal I would transform into.
When I was a kid and played Pretend, big cats were the thing I was most often. And when you're a little kid playing Pretend, you get really into whatever you're imagining. I would "stalk prey" from the back of the couch, pounce off tree branches and growl at the monsters and ghosts I imagined to be looming over my bed whenever I got scared at night, because I was a fierce wild cat that could ward anything off.
I think my idiosyncrasies are more cat-like than dog-like (as in my "Boxer" choice) or gorilla-like. I'm most energized around dusk/night, I love my naptime, stretching is the best thing ever and I'm curious enough that I'm pretty sure I've used up at least 9 lives. I'm very active and adventurous though (not to mention having a need to take care of myself, especially when I've been pushed around by bigger people my whole life), so a Jaguar is more suitable than an African Golden Cat; I take pride in being a fierce, competent, street-smart woman and want something with large muscles, solidity and prowess -- in real life, I may be 5'3" and weigh only slightly more than my dog, but in my heart I'm a panther.
Superficially speaking, I also have much in common with the Arizona Jaguar: we are both natives of Southern California (at least historically speaking) and it's nice to know that my animal is adapted to our moderate climate.
Lastly, I like that renrenren3 thought of this for me immediately, before even reading my list of preferred animals. I'm a pretty intuitive person, so gut decisions always feel more meaningful and kismet to me than ones that are analyzed.

I chose a Melanistic Jaguar as well, partially because I've owned a black jaguar plush for the past 20 years, and there's some sentimental value. Also, I have naturally dark hair and light blue-green eyes which people have commented on since I was little, so I think the contrast is fitting (Animagi are supposed to have physical traits that mimic their human form).
