roofshadow - Turkish Angora
I had a difficult time deciding because I could see clearly why every animal had been chosen and they all reflect a lot of parts of me. In the end, after reading about all of them, I am choosing the Turkish Angora.
I love that the Turkish Angora is a cat that loves water like I do and can even swim! Turkish Angoras are also known as chatty when is very much like me because I talk alllll the time. They need attention and are very affectionate which is true for me as well. However, like all cats, they aren’t pack creatures and usually bond closely with one person in particular while still doing well in families with other pets and/or children. I am extremely close to my sister and my husband and, while pleasant to everyone, don’t enjoy being in large groups of people.
Angoras are protective of their chosen person and I am very protective of those I love in particular. They are also known for trying to be helpful to their humans and are quite intelligent. I certainly try to help others and I hope people see me as intelligent as well. Angoras are playful and can get mischievous because they like to be kept busy and participate in everything which dovetails with my impatience due to boredom as well as my curiosity and passionate nature and even a bit of manipulation if that’s what it takes to get you to play.
In looks, Turkish Angoras often have blue eyes like I do (bluer than mine though) and they are well-known for their “shimmery white coat” which definitely qualifies them for being pale. Their fur is also known for being silky and super soft which fits me as well. Their coat gets much plusher in cold weather which means they basically create their own fluffy blanket when the temperature drops which is perfect. They are, however, known for being svelte, dainty and graceful which is not something I innately am but is something I have always wanted to be so, why not fulfill a dream? They definitely do not appear fierce, aggressive or intimidating although as I mentioned earlier they will protect those they love.
Pretty eyes, soft fur, domesticated and thus found pretty much anywhere you might like to live, the Turkish Angora seemed like a pretty good fit and then I got to the end of the Wikipedia entry and found that Sonja, Heathcliff’s girlfriend from the cartoon series, is probably one and I knew what I had to choose. Some people may recall that my childhood dream was to be a cartoon cat, and Sonja was the cat in particular that I wanted to be. (I later saw the Aristocats and fell in love with Duchess and Marie, also Turkish Angoras.) How could I be anything other than a Turkish Angora?

crouchingbarty - American Crow
I primarily felt drawn to the crow because I've always been impressed by their ability to be innovative and adaptable. They have a reputation for being able to use outside resources -- even human tools -- to their own advantage. I pride myself on a similar sort of innovation and resilience, so I feel a sense of kinship there. I've also always appreciated their reputation as tricksters; although it's not a side of myself that people necessarily see as often, I like the idea of my animagus form bringing out the more playful side of me, which I think amplifies both my and the American crow's cunning side.
The American crow also suits me well because it is primarily a solitary and independent creature, but this does not prevent it from forming close bonds with a small group--in its case, usually its family. Although it takes a while to gain a crow's trust, people can appeal to them by maintaining a respectful distance and remaining consistent, which I relate to a lot.
Physically speaking, the American crow suits many of my desires for an animagus form. It's a flying creature, which provides a sort of mobility that greatly appeals to me. It's also suited to live in both warm and cold climates, which corresponds with the diverse set of environments that I'd like to be able to live in. It's also an omnivorous animal, which I certainly would want to be.
Finally, what actually clinched this choice for me was looking into descriptions of the mythology of the crow. As a spirit animal, the crow often represents wisdom and intellect, but it also conveys a sense of expansive mysticism and spirituality, which I find to be playing a greater role in my life and my priorities as I get older. It also represents a protectiveness that I possess and direct toward all of my close friends and loved ones. Crows are sometimes portrayed as fearless, and although I am nowhere near fearless, I'm more likely to disregard my fear when I need to come out and protect my loved ones, which is the sort of situation when my animagus would be more necessary.

brkfastatholly - Tortoiseshell Cat
In my application, I said that I had always imagined my animagus form as a cat and here I am with a cat form (and not to mention actually my favorite breed of house cats!), so i could not be more excited to find such a perfect fit. I asked for cute ears -- check, a tail -- check, something quiet and light on its feet -- double check, and also good at hiding -- check! I really identify with the tortoiseshell cat because I am independent but fiercely loyal, adaptable, and also generally easy-going -- although I do have my own streak of attitude from time to time, which you could probably compare to the fabled "tortitude". Despite the tortitude thing, torties are generally pretty sweet cats and wouldn't at all be described as aggressive, which I definitely am not. I think cats in general are pretty adaptable, but with my own tortie she's about as adaptable as they come; we've lived in 5 different states and even more different apartments/houses and she takes it all in stride -- including a cross-country roadtrip that took several days. We definitely have adaptability in common. Tortoiseshells are also intelligent cats, which is a trait that I hadn't mentioned in my app but am please to see reflected in my form anyway.
All in all, I have so say that I really could not be more pleased with this form and I'm so excited to become registered as a Tortoiseshell Cat! :D

ellisbell - South African Cheetah
First of all, thank you for your insightful votes! This was a tough choice for me.
I initially wrote an entire essay about the Great Plains Wolf, listing all the reasons why it was perfect for me. But something just didn’t feel right and it was really bothering me. So I went back and carefully re-read my application and your comments, and began to reevaluate the South African Cheetah. I had been intrigued by this option, but I talked myself out of it because I thought the wolf was more "me".
However upon reflection, all my reasons for choosing a wolf had to do with what I do and how I function in my human form every day, and while that is logical, one of the perks of being an Animagus is the ability to get away from your human persona for a while. You're still "you", but experience things from a different perspective. My answer to the question 'Do you think the way you behave yourself would change in your animagus form?' was that I wanted to get away from gender norms/expectations in a patriarchal society. What had first seemed undesirable to me - that a female cheetah is a loner while the males stick together - suddenly made sense. Sometimes I do want to be alone, free of obligation; and this would certainly give me a chance to do that. I re-read my answer to 'If you could be an animal of your choice for one day, what would you spend that day doing?'...I said I wanted to run/fly/swim as fast as possible. Cheetahs can run up to 70 mph! The idea of that kind of speed is irresistible. (From my research: 'For more than half of every stride, the cheetah is airborne'. WOW. Running and flying at the same time!)
The cheetah has golden fur (I have blonde hair), and they have black markings that I envision as representing my tattoos, which are also black. They are very streamlined - I have never been curvy and my body type is pretty linear. A small female cheetah weighs about the same as I do. Cheetahs are dignified, beautiful, have long legs…I mentioned these were qualities I would like to have. They hunt in the early morning, which is when I am sharpest. Cheetahs can climb trees, but they don't like to, and I don't like heights either. They are protected because they are an endangered species, which means I’d have less chance of being harmed by humans than a wolf might. Even though they are cautious (like me), the cheetah displays Gryffindor traits of courage and daring. And one thing I didn’t think about until today: dogs are great, but I am definitely a cat person - I have three of them!
So I am really surprised by my choice, and I can’t believe I am giving up the chance to have a wolf for my Animagus form because I feel such a connection to them; but after a LOT of thought, overall I know in my heart the South African Cheetah is right for me. It will give me a chance to step out of my life, get away from my troubles for a while, and just be wild, fast, and FREE.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to go beyond first impressions and learn a little more about myself.

anirishlullaby - Red Panda
Let me start off by saying that I really loved ALL of my options here, and it was VERY hard to choose just one! However, after a lot of thinking I believe that I relate most to the RED PANDA. This might sound silly, but the videos are what cinched it for me. Really though, lookup any red panda video on youtube etc and they are reacting to their surroundings in ways that I almost certainly would as well.
From the videos alone, the red panda does seem to be a mischievous creature, with a good dose of solitary independence as well. Wikipedia tells me that they are active from dusk till dawn and sedentary during the day. Then there's me, who can't keep a set sleeping pattern to save my life, am almost ALWAYS up past midnight just puttering around, and am always on the verge of falling asleep at my 8-5 desk job. Pretty solid match right there alone!
The other thing that really struck me is - the red panda is a solitary creature, but in the videos they seem to be just fine together. Maybe a little wary, but overall playful and non-violent. I am quiet, but always kind, and in the right situation can be very sociable. I'm an introvert, which is why I love to have abundant time to myself after work, and especially after being social. Red pandas are also territorial, which I guess I can be in my home. I am not used to having others around at home, and get very anxious when they visit and poke around. Home is my safe space and anything out of the ordinary there is a little hard to handle. Red pandas flee when they are threatened as well, which is totally my gut instinct. I am not confrontational. When they cannot flee, they stand to make themselves appear taller which is a concept I for sure relate to as I am only 5'. Heels are painful, but occasionally helpful in helping me fit in or feel more comfortable around everyone else closer to the 6' margin.
Overall I think the red panda is most suitable for my animagus form. I also think that is a perfect in between for the fox and raccoon votes - it even has the raccoon type mask which was mentioned in one of the raccoon votes because of my raccoon freckles I get after being in the sun. I could probably keep babbling, but I think I'll end this here since I've made most of the points that led me to this decision. I can't wait to start participating in this community as a Red Panda, yay!

bellatrix - Chow Chow Dog
I really loved every option I received and was so happy to see that voters were thinking of various dog breeds even before they came to the response where I mention the connection I feel to this animal. That being said, I have decided to go with the Chow Chow as my Animagus for the reasons listed below.
My Patronus over at hh-stamping is a dog and this is the form I chose for it, because a Patronus is supposed to signify what makes us feel safe, and aside from the fact that these dogs are extremely loyal to those they bond with, they also share many of my other traits. I am a very resilient person when I'm faced with danger and I basically make myself feel safe due to that, because I know I can rely on myself, so the idea of having a Patronus that shares that is fitting. The Chow Chow also happens to be my Patronus form on Pottermore too.
This breed of dog and I are both very loving towards the people we form bonds with, but we are both very selective about relationships. The Chow Chow is more discerning than various other breeds and I myself am that way. While the Chow Chow and I both have a lot of love to give to those we connect with, we can be aloof towards others. We don't trust others easily and can be wary of outsiders until we get to know them. When it comes to relationships, loyalty and trust have to be earned from me and I don't expect people to give me theirs right away either.
I'm not what I would call a people person, or a social one either as though I'm polite , I'm introverted and don't bond with lots of people. I prefer a few good friends to many acquaintances also. Chow Chows enjoy running around outside; something else I can relate to as I adore the wilderness and that is where I feel most at home, particularly in the desert or on the moors. I also love pursuits like horse-riding and long walks that take place there and these are some of my favourite ways to spend my time.
As I said in my Animagus application I've honestly always felt a much stronger kinship to animals - wild animals for the most part too - than people in general, the fact that the Chow Chow too has a temperament that is somewhat different to more domesticated breeds of dogs, and very similar to that of wolves is something I feel mirrors this. Also, wolves are animals I feel a very strong connection to, so, a dog or a wolf, or a dog with a wolf's temperament, and one that hasn't lost that temperament despite being able to live in homes, felt like the most natural and obvious choice in the world for me.
Chow Chows are very quick to also defend themselves or their loved ones when faced with danger and that is also like me. I'm not an offensive person, but, just like this breed when confronted with an attack, I'll defend myself. These dogs were kept as guard dogs in ancient times and have very prominent survival instincts. This is a hugely important aspect for my Animagus form to have because I too have very strong survival instincts and as already mentioned I value both my resourceful nature and my resilience, which I feel are fitting trait in connection to these dogs.
Appearance wise I feel like this breed is completely fitting as it possesses a lot of fur, and I would prefer a thick furry coat as I constantly feel cold, would love to be able to transform and have extra protection against the elements, and I also have long hair that I'm still growing and that fits in too.
Then there's the issue of how quite often people underestimate and take these dogs for pushovers and ''puffballs'' based on their fluffy appearance and how loving they are with the people they bond with.
That is something that happens a lot with me too. I definitely have people making assumptions that I'll be a pushover. Often people have taken that and my appearance (I'm a short blonde who loves very traditionally feminine clothing) into account and assumed me to be "shy", "an airhead" and various other things, only to be surprised when it was revealed that they weren't able to take advantage of me.
I absolutely adore all dog breeds, but this is one of my personal favourites, and the one I see as "me in dog form", so there's no way I could go with anything else. I've had a couple of chances to interact with them in the past and they were such lovely experiences. I legitimately hope to adopt one - or two - of these dogs at some point in the future and the connection I feel not only to dogs overall, but to this adorable breed makes this the perfect Animagus form for me!

halliwell - English Lop Rabbit
Like the Lop rabbit we a both domesticated in a sense and often enjoy being alone, but do not mind the company of others. Often enough we come to trust people but are still weary of strangers or those that we do not know that well. Though we would rather flee or not get caught in a fight, we will stand up for oneself if need be. We tend to like quiet surrounds instead of loud ones, we get along well more with adults and older children then babies and toddlers.
Like the Lop rabbit, I will usually greet people I known longer more friendly then I would one that I have not known that long. I can be friendly when I am able to trust the person and also playful in some ways since I like doing group game nights and stuff with my club. Also like the Lop rabbit I am very placid, I don't get too emotional. I can also be very curious and outgoing when I am interested in something outdoors to do, I am also calm and laid-back like the Lop rabbits.
Also like the English Lop I tend to shine more with family members I have known longer and get along with. I feel like I can be more friendly, open and outgoing with them. Like English Lops I do not require much toys. Just mostly my computer, T.V., Game system and books and I am usually fine and content. Also like the Lop rabbit they require plenty of space and time to roam freely either within the house or outside in a fenced yard.
I tend to like my own time and space to explore things or figure things out, like in a new game on game night I like to be able to figure things out on my own time though I do not mind help from time to time. While I do love being indoors, I do like to get some sunshine like going for walks or going on trips or out shopping.
This breed is the original Lop. They are generally known to be quite placid (even lazy), outgoing, curious and friendly. These rabbits are longer and of a more slender build than their other Lop cousins and they are most noted by their characteristically long lop ears, which can be anywhere from 21" to 32" (tip to tip) the largest of any rabbit breed. Ears reach the end of their growth after approximately 5 months of age, although males can gain as much as an inch as their skull matures. The English Lop comes in a variety of both solid and broken colors.
Their colors include black orange/fawn, agouti/opal, chinchilla (grey), red-eyed-white as well as blue and black torts. We both seem to have ear problems, mine always builds up and I need to go to the doctor for them and I am somewhat deaf in one ear. The English Lop requires a little bit more maintenance in the ear department than most other breeds because they are so long.

alethiometric - Bengal Tiger
i have chosen the bengal tiger as my animagus form. the tiger is a solitary animal, and i'm pretty much solitary, too. although i don't tend to look for a fight, like a tiger, i know that i'm capable of finishing one, and people who antagonize me should beware. bengal tigers are big and occupy a lot of space - as someone who's six feet tall, i, too, occupy a lot of space. they have a luxurious fluffy coat which is i guess in some ways analogous to my long human hair. and although i've never dyed my hair bright orange, i have had stripes in it before, and it currently has a green-aqua color underneath. tigers thrive in sort of moderate and tropical temperatures, and although i'm not a fan of the great humidity of the world's jungles, as a tiger it probably would be okay because i could just nap all day and wake up when it's cooler in the evening. speaking of naps, as a cat, a tiger is a champion of naptime, and so am i. i am grateful that so many of my choices were dog breeds (YAY DOGS), but none of the breed options really remind me of my own traits or are animals i'd like to become - the malamute isn't especially swift, the berner has a tragic health outlook from the moment it's born, and golden retrievers are too... goofy. therefore, in the end, i think a tiger checks a lot of the boxes that i was looking for!

deepbluemystery - Traditional Persian Cat
I didn't write this in my application because I didn't want to bias people, but I have seen myself as a cat for a really long time now and I was thrilled that the Persian was one of my four choices! While I can definitely see parts of myself in my other options, the cat really encompasses the whole of who I am and I am so excited to claim it as my animagus form!
The traditional Persian is a perfect cat species for me for several reasons. It has long luxurious fur, which is analogous to my thick curly hair. The traditional is more of a typical looking cat as opposed to the modern Persian's smaller and flatter face. I definitely think the traditional cat face would better suit my physical appearance
But the personality of the Persian is absolutely what is most appealing about this option for my animagus form. Persians are chill cats, more likely to be found lounging on a sofa than darting about, which is much more fitting for my personality. I am a chill and sedate person most of the time, and lounging is my ideal day, lol. Persians are known as a quiet cat, suitable to my own temperament as a quiet person. They are selective about who they get close to but not totally aloof, which is pretty much exactly me to a tee! I found this quote in my research which really sounds like the author was writing about me:
"Persians are devoted to their humans, but can be selective in conferring that honor. You must earn their trust and love. They crave affection and love to be petted and fussed over, but won't harass you for attention the way some breeds will. They will, however, let their feelings be known if they are not getting the requisite amount of attention."
I avoid people sometimes, as I am an introvert, but once I love someone I just want to cuddle them all day and bask in their affections. Does that sound like a Persian or what??? Basically my dream is to lie around in a soft bed being pampered, and that is why I feel like the Traditional Persian Cat is my perfect Animagus form.

vowrawn - Savannah Cat
While I loved all of the potential choices, I quickly felt a calling toward the Savannah Cat. It's a unique blend of domesticated and wild, with the ability to feel at home in many situations. As soon as you think of a quirky, territorial animal that loves lounging in the sun, cats are a natural first choice. As discussed in my application, this form is well suited for an introverted / sometimes kinda social person who is stubborn and a little curious. (And heavens, I have my quirks too!)
Though the length and size of this animal is definitely a little bigger than the average housecat, making it stand out from the crowd, the gorgeous coat patterns also double as a natural camoflage in outdoor environments. It would be an excellent form for walking through the woods or enjoying an afternoon in the backyard, climbing trees and smelling the fresh earth or rain. This cat is a little more curious and adventurous than average, making it well suited for an animagus who wants to explore the world a little bit. (And did I mention this cat can swim? That's definitely a bonus!)
This form would feel at home in the outdoors, but it would also be able to adapt for a lazy day indoors. Savannah cats have a variety of unique vocalizations, making it perfect for getting someone's attention if necessary! From exploring rural areas to wandering through a big city, I feel like this form would help me as a swift, practical way to explore the world that is true to my own personality!

watchpoint - California Sea Lion
I have been on such a long journey in trying to find an animagus form that fits how I have changed since I became a Leonberger animagus in 2015. I am happy to say that I have finally found a new form that fits everything I have been looking for. I’m so grateful to the community and this term’s Animagus Mod, Holly/brkfastatholly, for picking these amazing animals for me to choose from.
Three of the four choices stood out: the Bornean Orangutan, Beluga Whale, and California Sea Lion. I could see myself choosing any of these options, and there are really strong arguments for all of them. The orangutan was the most tempting option I didn’t choose because I love them so much, but the climate they live in does not work at all for me. This summer has been so unbearably warm which has really highlighted how poorly I handle hot weather.
After some thought and research, I chose the animal that was the option that had felt the most right the moment I saw my choices, the California Sea Lion. This is a choice that makes sense for me and feels right too. A perfect combination! I’m actually getting a bit emotional because this choice feels so right for where I am in my life right now. This animal is intelligent, adaptable, and suits the physical characteristics I was hoping for. In fact, the females are a tan color which is very similar to the confusing shade that is my natural hair color. Geographically, they fit where I live as well. A few hours drive from where I live there is the largest sea cave in the United States called Sea Lion Cave. I imagine myself visiting this place, transforming into my animagus form, and hanging out with the other sea lions. I also love urban areas and they are famous for hanging out on a pier in San Francisco. Honestly, laying around like a blob in an amazing city sounds like the perfect day. Despite my problems with anxiety, my ability to chill to the extreme and become a blob is legendary. It’s kind of funny because when am actively doing something, my energy level is very high, and when I’m not, my energy level is very low. This reminds me of how quickly California Sea Lions can move in water and how blob-like they can be when at rest.
They are just the cutest and greatest, and I am so happy to become a California Sea Lion animagus! (I have a lot of feelings.)

flyingharmony - Arctic Hare
I spent a long time considering back and forth between the Hare and the Owl - both are amazing, and the owl has been super tempting due to having its habitat also in Russia ♥ - but in the end, I am going to go with my very first instinct, which is the Hare. Basically, it couldn't be anything else, because as soon as I saw the choices, my heart just started screaming "Hare! Hare! Hare!" It just seem so very perfect - living in extremely cold environment but still protected from freezing with a winter coat (changing coats depending on the season is something I could totally picture my Animagus doing, ngl, summer and winter wardrobe Hare style!), then being nocturnal - I already mentioned in my app, I am extremely nocturnal myself so how could it be any different with my Animagus?, and obviously the habitat in the icy tundra that would be so much fun to explore and certainly never cease to fascinate me... It's honestly perfect!
It blends in so very, very well with the surroundings when it snows, but still stands out in not-as-white areas and obviously also with its black markings in the ears, and the grey spots in the winter fur, which is exactly something I imagined for my Animagus, and I also love not being entirely lonesome living in a group of other animals of my kind but actually being capble of going alone for a period of time, which is also covered perfectly with the Hare again. Yes, it's a herbivore, which doesn't quite fit my preference, but looking at how the it's known to sometimes eat meat, that makes it perfect for me right again, since I'm known to at least eat some vegetables and many kinds of fruit xD. So... Basically I find so many parallels between the Hare and myself that I would simply love it to become my new Animagus form! It also feels relatively similar in some ways to my previous Canada Lynx, which makes me feel like I won't go astray entirely, haha, but it's still new and fun and exciting! And adorable. OMG, it's so cute.
